Hi,

Just purchased a 04 XR6T 2 weeks ago, and was thinking of putting an APS kit on.

I was wondering what the implications will be for my insurance.

Can anyone help out here.

Cheers Pete

Welcome to the Site :crybaby:

You will find that AAMI is popular with some modded T owners.

If you are really young or want to go all out, Just Cars will insure anything.

Oh, and there are now more options than just APS when it comes to making a fast T :banghead:

Thanks,

I live in Tassie and all we have here is an APS rep in Hobart, I guess I could put my car on the boat to melbourne, that might give me a few choices.

What other kits would you reccommend other than APS?

I want to make sure I get a well engineered solution, that will go well, but be totally reliable as well.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Cheers Pete

Pete,

I would wait for a few more months.

If you want a Kit then APS is a very good choice, but the Piggyback ECU's are a bit old skool now, as the Edits have been very popular.

APS still make the best intercoolers and exhausts for the T.

APS will (appartently) be releasing a Edit solution, but this was due in March05, but we have heard nothing for the past 6 weeks on the new (if any) release date.

Have a search through the site as there are heaps of threads about the options. Nizpro and HPF are both highly recommended melbourne tuning houses, APS's head office/workshop is also in Melbourne.

Enjoy the site and your car.

Thanks for the heads up.

I might look in to the edit thing a bit more. I'm really enjoying the website.

I take it the edit thing actually rewrites the software for the cars existing ECU.

Sounds like a better solution if it works.

I really enjoying the car even in standard trim, much to the disgust of my betrayed Expensive Daewoo die hard friends.

I actually set out to buy a commodore, but after driving the Falcon, for me there was no comparison.

I really enjoy reading all the posts here, and am looking forward to making the mods to XR6. in the next few months.

thanks for your time

Cheers Pete

post-5989-1114160783_thumb.jpgHi Pete

Dont be turned off piggyback cpu as I have one on an APS phase 2 kit. With bigger injectors and pump I can run easy 300rwkw power.I picked up the kit for $2000 second hand and come with unichip,968 injectors, pump, exhaust and cia plus $300 fitted and tuned at a safe boost level.

Here is a dyno of tune that I had 1 month ago.Hope it works

Sounds like a bargain, I was quoted about $2600 for a phase 1 fitted and tuned.

I'll keep my eyes on the forum and see what turns up.

I really like those boost guages that fit in a fairmont style clock bezel also.

thanks for your input.

Cheers Pete
