I'm with RACV. Have cooler, piping, surge tank with 044, full exhaust, modded turbo, injectors, valve springs, bla bla bla and the lady on the phone didnt even mention turbo let alone care about mods.

Their online quote doesnt ask for mods either. I say if you have modded your car get agreed value because you will be better off later.

Ran up someones ass (from a standing start) chose the repairer and all fixed, a different time old lady reversed into me and all fixed. Never any mentions of mods.

Complete care from RACV is awesome but costs a fair bit.

Im insured for an agreed value of 35k too.

Do all you guys have fairly stock cars?

21 and full comp for $800 is fuggin good.. im 27 with decent mods and I cant get lower than $1400. If I increase my excess to $1600 my premium would be around $1000 but f*ck that..

Mate I work for a car yard here in Coffs Harbour and one of my mates owns one of the biggest smash repairs up here and the basic mods that people on this forum do would not even be noticed by an assesor for example injectors, exhaust, flash tune and so on even if you got a full forged motor the assesor's would be none the wiser, unless you go and kill someone and they have to investigate more but hay then you got more than a insurance claim to worry about :dontknow:

But to be safe I would recommend notifying them for any visible mods cause these would be what would bring you undone.

My car is "stock" But I have pretty much every factory extra like full sports leather, premo sound, reverse blah blah. Only thing I dont have really is heated seats and a sun roof. I have asked them though. I am looking at putting about $2000 worth of sound system gear into it and they said my price wouldnt change. Or if I went the other way and started adding performance, It wouldn't change till I put the agreed value any more then $5000 extra.

So by the sounds of it I am on a pretty good wicket. Not forgetting my whole family is with them and I have home and contents with them as well.

Also another goodie. Any one is covered to drive my car. As long as they dont drive it every day I dont need to put them as a nominated driver. Only thing is if someone in my car has a crash I have to pay the excess its just up to me to get it off them and I am stuck paying more.

I am very happy with my insurance. If I have a questions there always very friendly to talk to and answer everything plus they are all Australian when I call witch is amazing!!!! Also I asked about taking my car down the quarter mile and they were happy to cover it as long as it isnt all the time. I basically said its for shirts and giggles and they were happy haha.

How do Aussie insurance companies view people moving in from overseas - for instance, people moving from the UK? Do they take into account insurance history with UK insurers, or are you a totally unknown quantity and have to start building your no claims history from scratch?

Depends on the insurer but in my day job as an insurance broker, I've carried over UK driving histories in order to give my clients a full no claim bonus from the word go. Usually the excess for being licensed in Australia less than two years still applies, but at least the premiums are reasonable.

For my fg f6 with no mods I pay $973 with AAMI $500 excess. I'm

25 with no accident history but a license loss. When I asked about a cold air intake, mags and stereo upgrade they said it would increase $40 a year. Not sure how it will change when I go further though.
