Blown BA or anyone else, when AAMI was advised about your aftermarket modifications did they increase their premium?

I have been ringing insurance companies today for my new T (hopefully due in May 2004) and so far AAMI seems the best insurance cover in that it is fairly priced and mod-friendly. :crybaby:

Safe and happy driving...Dr Z.

AAMI didn't care what mods you have...just so long as it is RTA legal...or so that was in my case

Whatever you do, get it in writing. Have it spelt out word for word on your policy that they insure you and agree with each modification.

sh*t sorry to here all that money you guys are paying.

My car is insured under my companies policy. There is never any excess no matter how many claims I make and anyone can drive it and its covered.

And it is all paid for PRE TAX :crybaby: I get every aspect of my car maintained including rego and tyres etc etc for $1800 a year pre tax. Whats more I can go through 5 sets of tyres and I dont pay any more!

Long Live the LEASE!!!!

XR8 with mods, drivers 25-35, $2100 with AAMI.

30 year old... I had a quote for an xr8 for $2200 and a quote for for xr6t for $1400... seems like the 8's cost more to insure... In the process also asked for a quote for a wrx and was also quoted $2200... GO THE T!! I am on a rating 3.

the business has two utes ..... XRT & XR8 .... same insurer

.... $200 more for the XR8 because historically XR8s have more accidents :w00t2: .... well that is their story anyway

It didn't matter what aftermarket mods were added. I paid $43500 for my T and she told me that as of today it had a market value of $44500. That was a few months ago.

All they want to know is what has been added. It will be in your best interest to disclose every option whether it be dealer options or aftermarket.

If I recall, in the event you right the car off within 12 months, they will replace it. Again a reason why you have to disclose all options otherwise they will replace it with a stock T only

My car is insured with NRMA and Ireceived the renewal notice the other day and was browsing through the information booklet that you get and came across a couple of interesting things.

1. Not covered for personal items stolen from or with your vehicle. These include any items, tools or appliances. Personal items do not include cash, mobile phones, or any standard equipment, option or accessory fitted to your vehicle.

So does this mean I can claim for my bag of money that I keep stashed in the boot ($10,000 in unmarked non-sequential notes  ) ?

2. Uninsured Motorist Damage - the most they will pay up is $3000 for this if an uninsured driver runs into you. And that's only if you have all the details of the other party (name, address, vehicle rego etc) and have reported the accident to the Police. NRMA may (not will, just may) decide to try and recover the total amount of damage (if over $3K) from the other driver, but deduct any costs and expenses incurred.

So if I understand this correctly, if some dole bludger in an uninsured sh*tbox Datto 120Y stacks into me the most I'll probably get is $3K, but if I smash into him and it's my fault my car gets fixed and so does his.

3. NRMA may refuse a claim if the person who was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident has had their licence cancelled, suspended has had special conditions imposed in the last 5 years. Or has been a convicted crim (within last 5years) with charges relating to fraud, theft, burglary, arson, criminal or wilful damage.

So be very careful who you let drive your car. :k24t:

4. NRMA may refuse a claim if the vehicle was being used for events relating to a motor vehicle club, bash or charity event OR the vehicle was being used for a driver education course (unless you have told them the vehicle will be used for this and they have agreed).
