I'm 18 and paying to do my Commercial Pilot License at the moment which is taking a lot of money out of my pocket.

I just spent $24k of my own money on a BFII XR6 since I'm still on my green p's and have to wait another 21months until I think about a turbo.

I'm still living at home until I finish my CPL and can afford to move out while still being able to buy all the toys I like :P

In hindsight I should have stuck to my budget tighter for the XR6 since I'm going to be running out of funds towards the end of my commercial license, the private license that I just finished cost me about $15k and the commercial with a few extra ratings is looking at about $40k.

But it will all be worth it if I ever get to control an A380 :)

Since every one seems to be getting into this threat might as well put my 2 cents in.

Im 19, bought my xr6t 2004 when I was 18 and have owned it for just under a year now. Im a civil construction worker, tax man says im worth just over 60k a year. When I get my job I didn't earn much, the day the banks said I could get a loan for my car I got one. So in 8 or so months I have saved close to 20g while paying off my car with the associated fee with a 18 year old owned a 25k turbo sports car *5 grand insurance* and paying 150 bucks a week board, am looking at buying a house. Not going very well, banks look at me being 19 with a 25 grand loan against my name and only earn 60 - 65 grand a year they only want give 200k. Which wont get me a decent house. Well something ill settle for.

In the next year my pay will go up to 90k with company goodies like car and phone. So I might just have to sit it out another 12 months before I buy a house. When I dont have to use my t as my daily or use my own phone for work it will make a big difference to savings. Well see

OR..... Buy some land.

Bottom line is, I chose the car first, house later, but in all fairness not much later. I cant get the house I want now because of my car, but im a car enthusiast, and I work 10 - 12 hours a day 5 - 6 days a week. I need to start and finish my day driving my baby. Its half the reason I get up every morning.

Im 32, a project manager in the mining industry but not for much longer, own my own house and my T outright and have 3 other mortgages.

Moving to the Gold Coast in 3 weeks where I plan to go into semi retirement for a few years, so more than likely I will end up selling the T to downsize to something more economical lol. Choosing quality of life at this time and with the current economic climate the mortgages I do have are self servicing(rental) so they will keep going.

I couldnt justify a new car till I was 29, up until then I drove nothing worth more than $10 000, but its been worth it as I like to believe my future is secure.

:loser:

I can proudly announce that I am only days away from rejoining the ranks of XRT ownership with a 2005 BA Mark 2 in Velocity Blue with Premium Sound currently being prepped by Rebel Ford. As stated in an earlier post, have been struggling with a mortgage and all the usual expenses and had to sell my original XRT a couple years back. BTW you wouldnt believe it - my original car just came up for sale and I did ring the owner but my finance company said it was too old and so I'm going for a newer one. Will post photos when it arrives.

Cheers and Happy New Year All Ford Lovers

Marky Mark

I'm 27 (well, 28 in May) and just got the new G6ET. No way could I have afforded it without the Ford employee (courtesy my bro-in-law) discount plus the add'l incentives they were offering for December.

I'm a manager in a chartered accounting firm in Melbourne CBD, making decent coin I guess you'd have to say especially given my age! I've been married almost 11 months and have 3 stepsons, oldest is 11 and youngest is 5. Living in Melbourne's west and have what is statistically speaking an 'average' mortgage. The car is salary packaged as I do over 25,000kms in a year. By having it salary packaged (financed via a novated lease) I save probably around $3k a year over what it would cost me if it wasn't packaged.

Happy to give anyone some advice if they are thinking about packaging a car! A turbo is a good car to package as the running costs are high relative to the cost of the car.

Just turned 30, sold my ba xr8 I had owned since new and told myself I needed to be sensible and buy a house about 6 months ago. Bought a hyundai thrashed it for 6 months and decided stuff it I miss my fords to much and just bought a bfmk2 xr6t.

So I ended up with a mortgage my new home, my xr6t and my Jeep worked out well for me.
