Worm A much better forum Silver Donating Members 3,808 Member For: 16y 6m 28d Gender: Male Location: Victoria Posted 30/10/08 01:02 AM Author Share Posted 30/10/08 01:02 AM Worm's just jealous that guys upto 10 years younger are driving Phoon's & have bigger houses/mortgages than him Just because you didn't do it mate, doesn't mean it can't be done. I'm 23 & have worked my arse off to get where I am today, that's how it's possible. A Trades Assistant these days could go work on a mine site & earn $120k+ per year which would set them up pretty well after a few years. Could start when you're 17/18 & have a house, car, mail order bride or whatever paid off before 25. Just because teacher's get sh*t money doesn't mean the rest of us do as well That would be a good theory if I earnt sh*t money... sh*t money as far as I am concerned is $25-30k... I am on $90k (Top of the Leading Teacher Scale in Victoria, plus $8k payment to do the school timetable), which I am pretty happy with at the moment... I used to earn more when I was 22-24 when I was working in IT... But I didn't like the job... In regards to the housing situation, I nearly own my house, so I am not jealous, just different priorities. I have a kid and a wife who doesn't work, so I am happy to be the bread winner and let the wife stay at home and look after our daughter... Not real worried about paying extra into my house account, as there is enough in my offset to reduce interest to close to nothing.I actually have the cash in my offset account to buy a new Typhoon, but it would be living excessive above my means... I spend lots of money on spoiling my daughter now... that's where my priorities lie...If you actually read the posts, I have not bragged about any of my income etc... I was more interested to see how many people are young and go into debt just to own a T. I am more than happy to have the thread closed :-)

Guest Guests Posted 30/10/08 01:08 AM Share Posted 30/10/08 01:08 AM (edited) Of course most young people are going to be in debt to own a Phoon or T... That's how you get ahead in life. Unless you're born with a silver spoon in your mouth or win Lotto, you're gonna have to take a loan out at some stage to buy either a house or car...$90k+ is great for a teacher in these days. Being male would help I suppose as they have been crying out for guys over the past 10 years. I'm not bragging about what I have or what I earn either, but I don't see how driving a FPV is living above your/my means when we have houses & good paying jobs?? I didn't buy brand new so don't have to worry about losing a packet if I have to sell for some unforseen reason. Not having kids is probably a good thing as far as 'spoiling' myself as well.Just out of curiosity, how did you buy your first nice car & how old were you? LOLI had an XE ESP at 21ish... Loved that car... One of my favourites... But was costing a fortune trying to replace stuff... So I moved to something newer... ED Fairmont Ghia... Then an AU XR8 came up cheap, so I went to that...I have actually spent more money on my wifes car etc... in the past... :-) Dunno why... Bought her a new Laser SR2 in 02... Both my wife and daughter get spoiled. I love spoiling them... Most of my money goes to them... that's the way I think it should be. Others have differing opinions... Up to them... But atm I live my life for my wife and daughter... Sure I would love to go out cruising every friday night, but dont cause I have a family to look after...In regards to the kids at school loving my car... Yeah they do... :-) NOt why I bought it, but they do love getting lessons which include 0-100 acceleration graphs etc etc... :-) The boys in my year 11 class were hooked on Skylines and 200sx's... Until they came for a drive in my car... And they realise its got more in it, cause it really struggles for traction... I always put a towel on the seat so they dont ruin the leather
