Exactly what me and the missus did. We had savings but nothing near what we wanted, but with the 14k first home buyers grant, no stamp duty, low house prices and we were able to get past mortgage insurance....how can you say no to that!

I put up with an old (but hugely reliable) 94 v6 camry while I saved, and two years ago purchased a house. The equity just bought me an 07 BF2 Turbo :D

For those of you with a mortgage on both house and T, why dont you try to refinance to consolidate or get a Line of Credit. At least with both types of loans you can explore the low interest rates at the moment.
