Oh and you dont have to pay friggin' rent and line somebody else pocket, good luck buddy Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/51122-xr6t-and-a-mortgage/page/17/#findComment-783538 Share on other sites

I can deal with the commitment (girlfriend doesnt seem to think so lol!). I earn good enough money to get something nice and pay it off as a kinda forced saving... Otherwise my money just goes on other useless sh*t and goin out so its about time I started getting ahead.Iv rented before and felt kinda silly paying someone elses mortgage when I dont have too. As you said, few reno's here and there and hopefully things will start looking up in a few years time and I can move forward with a little bit behind me.Im excited though, cant wait to get involved! Yeah its on the mtg but some quick work with the calculator and a direct debit from the pay office and it'll be paid off pretty quick. I work here in Perth for similar $$$ on my week off (allowing one day for the mandatory fatigue management rules) which gives a big boost to my take home $$$. IMO it's not sustainable working this much (two days off in nearly a month) but for the time being while I'm trying to get ahead I say bring it on.I recently decided that after my next swing I will lay about $10k down on a ~$38k loan for a BF II Typhoon - provided the one I'm considering is still for sale. Then in 12-18 months I'll be looking to lay down ~$100k cash (including the $14k federal grant) & borrow ~$300k to get into my own 4x2 with mates in one of the newer Perth burbs - Right at the height of the recession when house prices are at a low and you can get a very low fixed rate loan. I think I'm in a good position - the RBA overnight target rate is at an equal all time low and is set to be slashed again. Already it's only 4.25% (still a rip off) and Australia is not even technically in recession yet, just. I'd lurrrv to see mates/family members of mine do the same to get ahead but it just doesn’t happen enough unfortunately I take my hat off to those who work their asses off when young to get ahead, if it’s you, pat on the back Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/51122-xr6t-and-a-mortgage/page/17/#findComment-789237 Share on other sites
