I still pay board though so not sure if you could class that as rent?Six months ago I was 'renting and own a T', but moved back to parents before my trip to Europe so I could save some dosh.Hopefully early next year, ill be in the 'have a mortgage but own a T' stage. Im only 22 and want to get on the property ladder asap and while the housing market is down & cheap but I have owned my T for about 2 years so I figure im doing pretty well! Im with most of the younger guys though in that if I do the right thing with my money now, hopefully ill have paid off a good chunk of mortgage in a few years and will be able to enjoy my money when im a little older. That was me until 23... Then I got a loan for the T (dont owe a lot on it now) and wasted all my money over the last 18months. Well perhaps half was just wasted and half was put towards new toys, some holidays etcI live at home, still gotta pay rent (and it certainly isnt cheap) but until I can afford a decent house in a decent area I have no choice. I like living at home, its like a hotel and my parents never hassle me or anything Late next year, hopefully the loan will be paid off and I'll sell the car and blow a house deposit on seeing the world and experiencing things I couldnt experience in Australia. Paying off a 300k mortgage in sydney. I've tried to be sensible with my money, never had credit cards and always said I'd never borrow money unless it is for a house. the girlfriend and I have 3 cars but want to update two of them but with all the doom and gloom talk we can hold off and make extra repayments on the home loan while interest rates are falling. They are so damn expensive... Would be nice if wages went up with the price of houses... but they go up by 3-5% a year, whilst houses (CAN) go up 20% a year, but rarely drop in price... ZLAKLR Member 31 Member For: 18y 7m 20d Posted 28/10/08 07:36 AM Share Posted 28/10/08 07:36 AM sh*t I ticked the wrong option. I have a morgage and own my T outright. My misuss and I both work full time, got two kids (7 and 13) and wife and I are both 32.I just bought my T the other day, payed 'cash' in a round about way. Took a bank loan to pay for my new sodablasting buinsess which included (oh what a shame) having to buy a ute but that loan will be payed off (but off mortgage) when my redundency and super comes through in the next week or two.otherwise we also own 100%, our '97 RX7 (single turbo etcetc), '88 RX7, 78 RX7, 78 323 hatch, 2x JC Cosmos and a 91 V8 VN SS Commonwhore . Dont worry most of the cars are in various states of (lack of) build lol.
