Was going to say 20kph but 10 is a start in the right direction.Mate the only thing to go down in the last 20 years is the speed limit.

Also I've also been told to turn the heater on full after a decent session on the skidpan or track. Dunno if it helps or anything.

Surely there are lots of track days / half days happening so keep an eye out for them in your area

yeah what this does is provides an outlet for heat from the coolant, as this is what the heater runs off. I dont bother doing it after lapping, but in an emergency if you are looking like overheating you should go to full heater.

Another tip, dont put your handbrake on after some serious track work. The pads will bind

Really appreciated guy's thanks, I'm not really mechanically minded so reading various posts and forums on here is really helping me understand things better. I'm still looking for courses that dont require you to complete a slower course before hand.

Dont you guys have "performance / tuning days" at the race tracks over there?

At AHG / DTEC over here for example they have a couple of skidpans and a long track (well 1.6kms) and you can do actual training courses on one of the skidpans or you can do a "tuning" session (between all day and 2 hours) where u get an instructor in the car if you wish and you get use of the long track and skidpan. I've done one of the beginers courses (you often get them free when you buy from certain dealers) and while it might be good for someone who isnt into performance cars I think I take far more away from the tuning sessions.

Cheaper to!

Erko, cheers for that. How long would u need to wait before putting the handbrake on? a few minutes while things start to cool down or is it like a half an hour type wait?

I've always just turned the heater on full after a reasonable thrashing on the track? Overkill perhaps? Hasn't yet looked like over heating but when you touch the coolant hoses you can feel the coolant bubbling away.

Not too sure Mat, if there is though I'd definately go for something like that. At the end of the day the end result im wanting to achieve is to learn better ways to understand the car better and learn ways in which to react to different situations at speed through various techniques that only trained and qualified instructors know how to do. So if anyone has any info regarding these type of days please let me know.
