Agreed price wise, but there is reasons- so many parts available.

So many parts available because the OEM parts are low quality, and fail before they even get to their first service hence the need for so many aftermarket parts.

Euro 3 what a bugger - I wouldn't buy or build a gt40 replica and fit a gm product to it, I would rather look for a early prebuilt car with a Boss engine and then twin turbo it for a easy 1000hp like a lot of yanks have done with the Ford GT.

Backwards alright.

I remember some guy a while back with a 10 second 2.0l turbo mk1 cortina, he went and put a chev big block in it and it went near 1 second slower.

Some people you just cant tell they have to learn by there mistakes.

cant wait till this guy gets nailed by a standard xt falcon or goes broke trying to keep oil up to it.

SIN SIN SIN - Needs to be stoned to death.

They are a stout engine from the factory, there's so many parts for them because they are a huge hit in the states in the vette's. Their aftermarket industry is 1000 times bigger than ours.........

But how much better would it have driven on the street, imagine the lag it'd have with the turbo 2l as opposed to the on tap torque of the big block.

and the crap fuel economy of the big block even when your NOT into it.

that's what I like about the turbo's... u can travel or cruise as much as u want and their not stupid on running costs.. sink the boot into your stock wife taxi and bang 300+kw.

Cheap, light, easy to find, powerfull stock and very easy to modify. Cam & bolt on VE SS's are making 340rwkw........

Yeah "bolt on" is the key word there... charger.. turbo..

And they cost a sht load to mod, I know a boss is the same.

The aftermarket is so much bigger in the states yes.

I wouldn't say the gm has the majority over ford aftermarket though

as I have many a clip on Twin turbo Ford GT's, and heaps of clips of very tuff Stangs.

I would say on majority the Ford is the quicker car.

a few good clips to search.

you tube

Ford GT-TT - Texas Mile 2007_0

This car is just so dam fast hitting over 220mph by the mile from standing start.

not to mention having bad traction probs, see run number 3.

Then theres a number of heffernan built Ford GT Twin turbos.

Also search for Bad ass stang, Blown Black Boss Stang.

That stang is so quick and sounds so horn.

good clip by Mofo

Mofo Productions- TT GTO_Turbo 5_4 Stang_Turbo 4V Stang_0

Looks like the stangs all kick ass here.

N/a 408 stroker Fox body Stang even kicks a 2005 GTO running 7psi APS Twin Turbo setup.

Then same GTO Gets flogged by a 2000 Stang with 5.4 boosted

In answer about that MK1 Cortina, Sorry the Cortina Mk1 was full time drag car so lag was not a problem he just made a wrong choice with power plant.

The GT's are an awsome machine and I'd love to own one, for now im going to have to settle for a built GT engine in my falcon....

Ive seen all those vids, but theyd prob be 1% of the modded cars that are actually out there. We are so far behind them its not funny...

haha I can imagine what'd be said on a Expensive Daewoo forum.. it'd be almost a mirror of this.. 'fully sick car now that it has a GM engine..'

But in reality, good on him for going to the effort to engineer something different, he obviously liked the shape of the ford, and the GM engine.

I have grown up loving everything ford, and I will respect anything ford first in most cases, but that being said, I've been dedicating alot of time to a 1971 Vauxhall Bedford with a 350 chev, and a 1979 Pontiac Firebird with a 403 olds and I wouldn't change either for ANY ford.. though I would happily add a Boss 429 to the collection

do something different regardless of what the masses think, look at the hot rodders of old, some had some WILD designs, most of you would hate it, but that just set the rodders out from the masses..

I wouldn't put that engine into that body, but I still respect it.
