Hi All,

Have a BF T. Amazing machine. I recently had the 45k Service and the car is still under warranty. (Hence I don't want to modify yet).

I noticed that there is a build up of oil around the turbo intake pipe. And, a build up around the top of the breather pipe. The oil around these pipes is not a small drop, it is quite substantial.

Anyway,

Ford told me that there was nothing wring with the turbo and that it was OK. Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be? Because obviously everything is not OK.

Martin

A picture tells a thousand words.

I'd suggest posting one so we can give you a better indication of what may or may not be deemed as acceptable.

For comparison, this is what mine looks like after 8000kms.

Dust amplifies any oil traces anywhere.

I would deem this as acceptable in my opinion.

yeah that shows a good pic of the turbo from underneath? Not only do I have oil built up on the breather pipe, but also on the clamps holding the intake hose into the turbo. Just a note that inside the turbo there is no oil on the fins or inside from what I can see.

Does this help anyone diagnose?

Like I said before mate, post a picture so we can get an idea. If it's the same as mine I wouldn't worry about it. If there is oil dripping off it then I'd get it checked out. Also, the pic was taken from the top of the engine bay.

Blowby can be bad for your engine, but it depends on how bad it is. If your not sure, go and get someone to check it out.
