was the tune checked after the cat had been replaced? If it was running rich then that would explain the cat failing quickly

hey guys I was wondering if any body can answer my question? when your catlic converter is about to sh*t its self or has sh*t its self what are some of the things you will start to notice.

you will notice this brown thick stuff come out from the tail pipe and it smells like someone farted

If the cat has melted then its not really the cats fault, more so the high exhaust temps the motor is producing (poorly modded/tuned can do this).

Usually cats that fail break away, and the whole insides twist and block flow... some only partially block the flow, others block more of the flow.

Hiflow stainless cats can go too, a friend just had a xforce cat sh*t it self, car lost alot of power but there was no noise from the cat.

yer this is true, I have been told by a reputable exhaust shop that my APS stainless steel cat can't deteriorate like a ceramic one can, but at the same time when dyno tuned I was told my cat (5 1/2") was the limiting factor, as I got very low numbers given the mods applied at the time, im guna take it off and get the exhaust shop to look at it for me - its thier job so they will be able to tell if its rooted or not
