We should add this to the various P plate restriction threads on the site.

All of you P platers who say I wouldn't do that, or I drive/drove a t on my Ps and I'm OK, just think about it a bit.

P platers form a minority of the road user out there, yet their accident rates are the highest. Why, put simply it's a lack of driver training, education and experience. I raced motorcross on the weekend, and I can tell you that there is no class that allows the juniors to race anything bigger than a 125. The only way to learn proper vehicle control is to start on something that won't bite too hard when exploring the limits.

While the majority of P platers can get by without a problem (either by fluke or they keep their sensible happy), the fact remains that their sgement has the most driver at fault accidents, therefore it is logical that this segment gets the attention.

When I was a P plater, I thought I was the best driver there was. Looking back, I now know I was crap.

The p rules are in place for a reason!

Here is a fine example! And a lucky one at that! Could have been worse

whats with all the P plate bashing? I work at a hospital and have seen maybe one p plater come in with motor vehicle accident related injuries n that's related to their mental state not driving capabilitys, compared to the amount of 30yr old and up that flock in day in day out. I <3 Bananas p plate rules, 312rwkw on my green ps and chasin more.

The car was only running in Factory tune, the young fella involved had paid half the money for my flash box with custom tunes and was telling me that same day that he would have the rest of the money the next morning. After discovering that he had only 3 weeks left to get off his "Ps", I then told him he would be better off waiting a few weeks and driving sedately for atleast that period, he agreed and said he was going to take it slow for a while.

4 hours later, a straight road with only one curve around a small hill and he's spun backwards into the bank and flipped onto the bonnett, with the quad exhaust being rammed up front of the diff. It also must have slid a fairway upside down as it wore through the bonnett and the rocker cover.

According to the young driver, he was not speeding but swerved to miss a fox, and was booked for negligence.

That said, he failed to negotiate a corner that could easily be taken at 140kph in my Hilux ute. (just to indicate its sharpness)

This accident happenned at Murwillumbah (back road to Condong sugar mill)

hmm fox it at least he didn't say dog that's a dead give away

where I grew up there were pleanty of roo's so you could always blame one of them

and if he really did swerve at speed that's more inexperience if I see something run on the road and I'm movin I would rather hit it and right off a bumper than end up lookin like that

Grrrr. shame to see such a nice car end up like this. however, p platers shouldnt be stereotyped. there are plenty that drive sensibly and avoid things like this happening. and then there are the p platers like myself, who use common sense to know when you can plant your foot without anything bad happening. im not saying im the best driver in the world. but I use commonsense on the road and so do alot of other p platers. same thing could happen to a bloke whos never driven a turbo before. or rwd for that matter. 1 idiot ending up on his roof shouldnt create a stereotype for all young drivers.
