I was recently quoted 72K drive away FG F6 with leather and argents :spoton::innocent:

Brand new VE HSV GTS 317kw are being scored for 61K drive away

Wake up FPV before its too late

I am in the same situation 71 k for a Fpv f6 or $64k for a hsv gts.

Always been a ford man. But looks like a change may be in the wind .

When will ford wake up ?

I just ordered an 09 Build FG F6 Sedan, lightning strike, auto, Dark Argent Wheels, Leather, Adjustable Pedals, FPV Mats for 67k drive away, 6 year warranty thrown in. I think I may in Melbourne been able to get an extra $100 or $200 off but not much more in the car with these specs, unless already sitting in yard.

I've heard that 08 HSV R8 Clubbies are being had for as low as 50k driveaway at the moment.........gotta admit it would be tough to stump up the extra 17k for an F6...

FPV dealers here in NZ have said that they wont discount their cars. Will be interesting to see just how many they sell.

On a side note base price for a F6 is 69k nzd, equates to around 60K aud

Its a bit different when you say you got a great deal with a big discount after a new model or a new year comes around...

Been a while since I've last logged on. Snowed under with work.

Good to see a lot of support from fellow forum memebers who are sick of being ripped off by greedy dealers. There will always be those vested interest parties who will try talk an excellent deal down on the forum because they can't match it.

$59K is a great deal. I'm at just under $59K as we speak and have the particular dealer ringing me ever 2 or 3 days pleading to do the deal. I won't budge though. It's $57K D/A or nothing. I will get it. Most dealers will get down to $60-$61K D/A without too much hassle. It's a buyers market atm and will be for a while. 2009 will only get better for those wanting to buy an FPV or HSV. Only a mug would pay full prive for one of these vehicles, unless they just enjoy throwing their cash out.

To the many members who have PM'd wanting advice on how to do a great deal, I will reply once I've signed up my F6, with what my process was and some handy hints when looking for your next ride.

Also as mentioned anything from the HSV showroom is a lot easier to bargin on. Brand new 317 LS3 auto Clubby for e.g. that I negotiated for a guy at work recently came in at $52K D/A with leather, sunroof and tints brand new! Even got the colour he wanted, which isn't always possible on a super deal.

Deals can be done, anyone who thinks or says otherwise is either not looking hard enough or just going about it the wrong way.

To the supporters, I will be in touch soon.

Cheers.

Let's face it, Expensive Daewoo aren't selling HSV's this cheap because they want to. They're doing it because GM's back is to the wall globally and the whole company is on the verge of bankruptcy. I imagine they are losing money on a number of these deals BUT it brings in some cash and they are much better with $60k cash than a car that in THEORY is worth $70k but isn't actually worth anything until sold.

Those that are asking Ford to wake up with the crazy bargains need to stop and think a bit. You're saying that Ford should throw the baby out with the bathwater just because Expensive Daewoo has to? Ford aren't quite at the firesale stage yet and while I'm sure they would like to be making more sales it's hard work trying to compete on price when your main competitor (HSV) is practically giving their cars away. They would likely just end up cutting each others throats even worse.

So while I would love a bargain I can certainly understand why Ford isn't lining up to slice prices to the bone yet.

My 2 cents :beerchug:

(BTW, I never noticed before, this forum has a CRAZY number of smilies!)

Like many here I'm at a crossroad. My BA F6 is 4 yrs old with 92,000Km on the clock and while its still a great car I'm getting that 'itch' for a new ride. Would like the FG F6 but was quoted $67500 drive away and a trade of $24k for my car. They did not want to deal so I walked.

Went across the road to Expensive Daewoo and was quoted $37,750 for an Bogan special ute and $48k even for an Bogan special wagon with 20" wheels and full leather - both drive away and both brand new and that was their first offer, not their final offer! The brother wants the ute and I've a soft spot for hot wagons. I'm looking at the HSV's as well as they are at least willing to talk deals and the savings would more than cover a cam, blower and coilovers, which woud put an R8 up there with the quick cars out there.

I've been screwed in equal parts by Expensive Daewoo and Ford having new cars from both so have no overriding loyalty to either. I want to see them BOTH survive these hards times for fear all we will be left with is a choice of either 2ltr or 1.8ltr ass-dragging front wheel drive rice-burners - God help us all if any of the big 3 US car makers go under in 2009!!

So, if anyone knows a Ford dealer in SE Queensland willing to deal let me know and I'll be in the blue team again, if not I may well be changing sides, and going back to super rather than turbo charging......decisions, decisions.....

The flip side to awesome deals is a crap resale...so saving a few bucks now will ultimately just cost you (and every other poor sucker) at the other end in any case.

Correct tab. When the VE Late model camira was launched, Expensive Daewoo slashed prices on VZ HSV stock, they were selling them for $49,990 drive away (Clubsports). This in turn killed resale value on VY and Early VZ product, and I mean really killed it. Expensive Daewoo dealers weren't interested in trading them and to be honest, neither were Ford dealers...

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction - this is true in every facet of life
