Broken Something In My Car Again

same thing was happening in my car. happened for months, nailed it 1 nite and it went bang.

wouldnt even go backwards off the tow truck. and no forward gears.

not going to bother with the 4spd anymore, going to go powerglide

that's the plantery's failing! broken teeth in the gears stop them turning in reverse to allow you to go reverse.. That happens both rolling and when engine powered.. However, in my experiances with the plantery's failing, reverse did stop working, but with a little bit of gentle persuasion, it would go in reverse, almost like driving over a brick.. haha

Ok it was a broken drive plate, so ive got a custom one made and im getting stronger bolts aswell, just have to wait to get it all back togther.

cant say I've heard of one breaking on a 4speed....

SAME HAPPENED TO MINE ABOUT A MONTH AGO

THE BOLTS RATTLED LOOSE AND FLOGGED THE HOLES OUT!

GOT A NEW ONE FROM WORK AND HAD IT STRENTHNED AT NIZPRO

Ok technically nothing is broken, the drive plate bolts have worked their way loose, and have elongated the mounting holes. We have a new and strengthened drive plate ready to go in and waiting on some new ARP bolts to secure it and back together it will go.
