This is because you are generally representing yourself and the government has their legal dogs on a leash and will over inflate their rates. If you are a habitual court attendee, that will fight anything, then you may be up for costs. It is your right to take a matter to court if you feel wrong done by, but from what I have read, you were treated correctly by the rules.Do not rely on info from here as gospel, speak to the QLD transport people, they actually know the truth. In my experience in NSW they rarely if ever don't award costs, costs are a standard around 40 bucks from memory could be a little more or less, but you still have to pay for your own solicitor unless you can prove there is no prima faci case in which case costs can be awarded the other way to pay for your expenses, although my experience in court is limited as I've only spent around 10000 hours in court. Zap is right the first stop should be QLD transport because whatever is on here is only conjecture or anecdotal at best. The only way that it would really be possible to fight and win would be to win against one of the tickets.

GO TO COURT AND FIGHT IT or it will come back and bight you in the ass in a few years...... what about insurance? will you still be able to get coverage after loss of licence. There are allways other factors to look at that a loss of licence may effect, it all has a carry on effect

Do you still pay for their legal bills?I know several people that went to court and were never asked to pay anything except whatever the court determined fine was, but they were all issued with a attendance notice not the other way around as would be the case here. These are criminal matters and most of the referenced ppl you know are probably traffic offenders which also falls under the criminal justice system. This NEVER applies to the civil court system as the topic starter may civally take on QLD transport, where for example under malicious legal proceedings the defendants costs are regulalry awarded. And under his current predicament it could easily be seen as maclious or wastefull/pointless proceedings if QLD transport are correct in there decision. So again, those who wish to wrecklessly advise everyone on here to take everything to court without any foudation. . . dont without knowing there true circumstance.I.B.
