yeah I did the pushing the throttle to the floor the other day and cranked it for about 10 secs. Didn't fix the shaking but made a difference to how much I need to push the throttle when I drive it. Does that reset the throttle position?

nah I don't floor it up hills, it happens when I floor it to overtake on the highway and it also appears worse when driving up hills

If this occurs when you're flooring it at low RPM in a high gear, you're lugging. It's like a bike rider coasting at 10kmh, then trying to accelerate hard while in the highest gear possible (in your case 5th).

As a bike rider at a very low speed, being in such a high gear, the amount of effort you'd have to exert to speed up fast would be tremendous. But in a cars case, the effort/pressure gets transfered straight to the engine. You're putting massive pressure on the conrods, the pistons, everything, and this will eventually lead to detonation and a blown engine.

The easy solution is to shift down to the appropriate gear when overtaking!

The exact reason while flooring it at low rpm in a high gear is bad is too complex for me to go into, but have a read of this thread.

That should explain everything

I dont think this would be lugging as lugging occurs at a very low car speed in high gear. This situation is at 100km/h in 5th gear, so flooring in then will not cause lugging, if you were going 40 km/h and floored it in 5th, then expect some lugging.

yeah I don't think its lugging, I know what your getting at by saying wrong gear etc and I know what that sound is. At 100km/hr I should be able to plant it and from 2000rpms it should be on boost and ready to go...?

This morning I planted it in second at 2000rpms and it takes off fine with no shaking. I guess there is more load on the engine at 100km and in 5th at 2000rpms compared to rolling along in 2nd and planting it...?

I'm thinking of getting coils off ebay and changing them. Should I do the plugs while I'm at at? and if so should I just get the normal gapped plugs as its not modified and probably won't be for a while.

get the coils and definatly do plugs at same time, saves u doing them again if u tune and wont effect the car if it isnt tuned. BKR6IEX from memory is the 0.8mm gapped NGK's

Thanks mike, I was wondering if the 0.8mm gapped plugs would be alright in a stock car but sounds like they should be alright. I am planning an edit sometime in the future so gotta save up the coin. I would want to prob get a custom tune to be on the safe side although I've read some alright stories about the CV generic tunes on this site...

Whats the price on a set of plugs? A quick search of ebay put it at around $90...

The coils were $150 for the set, pretty good considering repco wanted $48 each...
