Hey guys,

Just joined the website. To give you an insight, I bought my ute a few months back, it is still standard except for a K&N Air Filter I put in soon after purchase.

Firstly, I have noticed in first gear off the line it is very sluggish until the revs reach about 1500-2000rpm. I have tried raising the revs before I take off but it seems to bog down, even if I try to slip the clutch a little. I'm hoping it's not just me driving like a girl... :buttrock:

I have been told that an increased airflow (such as a cold air intake) could help fix this problem, but I am not sure where to start. I do want to do a few mods, but certainly don't want to blow the doors off it (just yet).

Can anyone give me any guidance regarding cold air intakes and other minor modifications like that that might increase the performance. I don't have any particular budget, but I want to spend within reason. With so many different options around, I am curious to know what the forum thinks.

Cheers

- Shaun

Like Mike said, a Typhoon lower snorkel is generally the first CAI option people go with.

You can pick em up on ebay for about $70.

Flash tuner is another thing that most people do and they'd have to be the best bang for your buck you'll ever get. Completely transformed my car.

Beware with the generic tunes that come supplied on the box though. Because they're not specifically tailored to your individual car, some people have had some issues (small and large).

If you go with generic tunes, at least try to get the car on a dyno, just to make sure that everything is happy (AFRs, etc).

Or do what I did and save up a little extra cash for a custom tune in which case, if your tuner is worth his salt, you will be as close to "completely safe" as you can be.

It's a turbo car bloke, they got nothing until it spools.

Just rev it to 3000-3500 and then jump off the clutch. That will sort you out! :stirthepot:

Cheers guys,

Great feedback. I was leaning towards the Typhoon intake and Flash tuner, it's great to get a little reassurance. I notice hardly anybody on any of these forums talks about SS inductions or any other intakes. Not worth their money?

waste of money, thphon secondary snorkle is better as its an extra not a replacement.

not to mention the price of the kits.

also if u wanna upgrade your cooler piping in most cases the ss would have to go.

hope this helps
