It is a combination of diff and half shafts - the utes don't suffer the problem as they have a beam axle and less than half the splines in the driveline. The autos have it but the transmission masks the symptoms most of the time while actually driving, so you will only get the clunk when engaging drive from neutral or park.

The Turbo diff is the same heavy duty one used in the XR8 - presumably the GT. The atmo diff is the standard unit.
