The area of door I'm refering to is the black moulding in the centre part next the the windows between the front and back doors.I coudn't believe my eyes after walking around and inspecting 10 other cars 9 off then had a step up between the front and rear doors.I then drove to another dealer to find their BA's had the same alignment problem didn't matter if it was a Xt. Futura, Fairmont or XR the majority of them had the same problem. This a serious cosmetic issue that spoils the look of this great car. When my car arrives I'll be double checking the alignment of the door mouldingd between the front and rear door windows.Has anyone of you guys or gals noticed this, if not check your car and let us all know. I't a tiny fraction low - something I've noticed on a LOT of BA's I've seen, but other than that I think the fit and finish is close to excellent. How much off alignment is the blackouts on the door. Is it 1mm max?
chrislak Donating Members 400 Member For: 22y 21d Location: Sydney Posted 09/01/03 10:59 AM Author Share Posted 09/01/03 10:59 AM It's more than 1mm, I saw a xr6 utes was a miss alignment of about 5mm, you could actually see it when your in the car driving down the street. Last night I stopped at another ford dealer and what do you know 95% of the cars had the same problem, I even had another friend come with me to confirm what I have been seeing is right, he agreed with me. City Ford please make sure my car is right because I aint bying it like that, not that I'm saying that the cars I saw were at city ford.(dont want to upset the sponsor), Cmon guys someone out must have noticed this problem, if not your not looking harder enough. It seems to be pushed out by the rubber, and it may just be the case that the rubber is new, and has not has time to settle... only a guess, but I'd say that after time it will align properly... maybe if it wasn't that way after time it would leak... If you see the problem on most cars, I'd say this could be the case? All I can say is god help the poor sales rep when he ask's you to check the car before purchase... he'll be sweating so much it'll run down his back, through his butt crack.. and down the back of his legs!!
