The GT is a great car for it's intended purpose = Grand Tourer. My point is a marketing issue with Fraud in the performance stakes.

The GT does not cut the mustard as stock against it's HSV rival. Where perceptions are king in spending 65+gs on a new car they are not doing enough.

The performance king of the FPV stable is the F6, are they milking it's latent potential... in short no.This is where you convert the fence sitting V8 traditionalists, and keep them once you're an owner. Is the GT without a SC ever going to challnge HSV. No

They are in fact doing nothing to address the leakage to the other lot. 70% of an ever reducing pie is not the business model for future growth.

There will always be a market for Ford V8s( though IMO not sustainable), make it better or the F6 it is. Unless Fraud win the next line extension the Blue Ovals V8's days are numbered , albeit a crying shame for something that could have easily been avoided.

Helloooo you stupid stupid, stupids mungoes :spoton:

:bum: Well said.

Don't forget the majority of FPV and HSV buyers are executive types who want a bit of street cred for their cruise to work and back. A V8 has more presence for this purpose. It's nt helped by the fact that Wheels and Motor refuse to publish the truth about just how much quicker and sharper the F6 actually is.

I also don't beleive that the current GT is that far off the HSVs. Dyno testing shows the GT ahead on power, and that magazine in NZ actually recorded raster 0-100 times in the GT than they did in the R8.

Ford's marketing woes are comounded because they've let it go for so long, Expensive Daewoo has an deeply ingrained perceived image of having the dominant performance cars. Holden's next V8 could be the biggest heap of crap ever seen, yet it would still outsell a GT with a GT40 motor in it. All to the reputation they've been allowed to create unhallenged for the last 15+ years.

I agree, take a auto r8, and a auto GT, and I think the GT will beat it across the quarter, in wheels the GT had more mph then the gts, so that shows it has more power, just the goofs driving it picted manuals, and could not drive them.

HSV been smart enough to equip their cars with 9.5 inch rear rims with RE-O50 275 /40/19 rear tyres!!!

Why FPV uses 245/35/19 Dunlop Sport Max's especially on the rear is beyond me???

Fair enough have the same size rims all round on the XR's etc but FPV should step up their game!!!!

:buttrock: But what hope do we have. They couldn't even be bothered designing new rims for the FGs, let alone go to the expense of putting bigger ones on the rears.
