hey guys, im new to the whole turbo xr6 thing and I am looking at purchasing one when I get off my P plates (only a month to go!!) but I am not sure what exactly to go for.. I would be looking at doin some very minor mods to it but it will be a bit of an everyday car. I am wondering what people found to be good in regards to transmission mainly as I am not sure whether to go an auto or manual. I would be looking at a BA as BF isn't quite in the budget.

anything that is of help is greatly appreciated thanks

Damien

Yeh im with Keiran - If the budget can stretch to make sure you get the ZF 6 Speed Auto or T56 6 Speed Man, will save a lot of hassles further down the line when (not if) you decide to mod!

Try and avoid the 4 speed Auto or T5 manual if you can or it will limit what you can do in future without spending big $$.

six speeds are stronger ,but the 4spd still does the job if that's all you can get and the 4spd was still quicker down the quarter last time I checked ?

Mostly usual stuff....previous crash damage, door gaps, service records, history, and if your looking at a standard car.....check for possible previous mods....holes drilled in places they shouldnt be etc....

These cars are the best bang for your buck around but if thev'e been abused or not been correctly maintained you could face troubles down track.......use your gut instinct too......if something doesn't add up....walk away, As the other guys have said, the six speed cars are the best by far.....there's plenty of them around and if your patient, you should be able to get one in the colour you want with the options you prefer.

and if your budget won't go that far....consider waiting.......good hunting....

Mate go BA MkII. I just purchased a BA MkII 6sp Man Sedan for $22000, 35000kms, 8 mths rego and warranty. The best purchase ever, the car runs beautifully. However if you find a good BF for a great price than I recommend the BF over the BA.
