Hey guys, Just wondering who's out there that can explain why forged pistons and rods etc are so much better and stronger than normal cast ones. Are there any other advantages aside from strength like heat transfer or something?? are the cast and forged made out of the same metal? Just thought I would pose the question as maybe a few people can learn some things about it!

forged conrods are physically bigger, so that's got to help..

there is a picture floating around in which you can see the difference.

pistons im not sure on but..

Aren't forged components made from a solid block of material whereas cast components are made from pouring the heated material into a mould? Moulds can cause inconsistencies, thus are weaker & the material used in forged components also determines strength/durability...
