Asteroids, Space invaders and Missile command swallowed up hundreds of 20c out of my pocket over the years.

They are a long way from the games you can get now but they are still a hoot to play

You're not that old Brad!!?

C-64 elite a revolution when it came out.

discs of tron, I'd love to find one of those cabinets floating around.....

Hey Jimmy, where abouts do you have your games?

I was an amusement machine tech back in the day. I worked for Goddards, Leisure & Allied, and ACM in the late 70's and 80's.

Not only arcade video games, but also pinballs and juke boxes.

Here's one for you young'uns!!! Do you remember any of the original drive style games where the car was on a stick under the screen and the road moved downwards using a rear projection bulb? LOL, wow that was a while ago, am I showing my age?

When the first Space Invaders came to Australia I used coloured cellophane on the screen and then we imported the first Galaga boards to replace many of the older Atari etc games.

I still have the original 45rpm single and T-shirt that was shipped with the Kiss pinballs...

If you're looking for a tech let me know.

Classic Favourites,, That's even more difficult to answer. Dig Dug, Missile Command, Frogger, Beer Tapper, Defender,,geez just way to many.

I love em all.

I have games all over Sydney aprox 700 in operation, mostly out west although I have a couple of pubs in Coogee and the cross.

What LAI did you you work for Sydney??? They are now big players on the international market with their 'Timezone' brand, they also made a small fortune making those ever so addicting 'Stacker' machines.

Galaga & 1942. :spoton: Can't say no to these whenI pass them. However, due to inflation, I have also noticed that 20c is not enough anymore. It is now $1 for some machines. Oh well, at least I'm earning more now to cover it.

I worked for LAI in Sydney and they wanted a sub branch in Albury to cover Victoria and southern NSW all the way to the ACT. After a few years they sold it to Goddards, then that was sold to Village who in turn sold it off to a private enterprise called Automatic Coin Machines (ACM) I stayed with them another 8 years then the huge decline of the industry was imminent in the late 80's so I left. A couple of years later they closed the doors.

Geez can't remember the amount of machines we had, around 4000 or so I think it was. I was on the road 7 days a week repairing but collecting was weekdays only. It was nothing taking a few thousand dollars in coin to the banks around the place. Weighed the vans down though, ah good old days huh?? LOL. I rolled a van with 2 pinnies in it,,,that's a funny story though...God I have some stories...

Still those old games were the foundation of what we have today. The controllers got better for a while, then we started making our own, I even wound my own flipper coils if there was a shortage.

1942, why was that so popular?

Peng, Time Pilot, Qbert and all those were great but not as well remembered as the mainstream stuff.

Hah, enough of the reminiscing or I'll have to find a job back in the industry!
