If you've got a trade certificate in the industry or know a good mechanic that is willing to back your reasoning I say go for it.

Like I said, if the components you fit have nothing to do with another part of the engine that fails then why wouldn't you be entitled to warranty?

I know I'd be fighting it tooth and nail with whomever I had too to get my warranty claim in.
