Thanks Sena, sounds like a worth while investment.

Plan to take it to Tunehouse and may talk to Jim whether it's worth it or better off with a Secondary Cold Air Intake.

Do you know where I could see what the Secondary Cold Air Intake looks like?

Thanks,

Vic

Do you mean the one below the headlight? That was on the BF adn I don't think they are compatible with the FG.

If you mean the Larger air-box being mentioned above you can have a search on Ebay as Ferntree Gulley Auto Salvage are selling them on there, or there is a thread here somewhere with pics...

The boys at Tunehouse will be happy to help you out, they do good work.

As for your exhaust note. Huh??

How would your exhaust sound any different if you didn't do anything to it? :spoton:

More air in means more out the exhaust.

Putting a CAI on my BA XR8 made a fairly noticeable difference in exhaust noise. Really suprised me how much extra volume it gained.

that's an interesting dyno graph for a stock car phantm. not having a go or anything but it is way different from how my stock ba graph looked! mine was gradual and linear, with boost sitting flat on 6psi for most of the run! that graph looks like you get a nice shove in the back, good stuff!

Planning on getting a custom tune done on my FGT in Nov and was thinking of installing one of these before the tune. Now I'm a newbie so whats involved in installing this aibox. Do any of the std components need to be mofdified? Mine is leased thru work so I'm just mindful if it will effect my insurance.

Thanks,

Vic

Vic,

One little mod I did do with my air intake install was to move the seal on the bonnet back approx 20mm so it seals around the new XR8 intake. If this is not done then the seal hangs down in front of the intake mouth due to the intake needing to be cut back to fit under the bonnet. To move the seal this just requires two new holes drilled in the bonnet to relocate the plastic pins the seal is monuted with.

For anyone interested in making a louder 'dose' noise on their FG XR6T, all you have to do is remove the blow off valve and plug all three hoses and drive away.

Hey Phantom, wont that damage the turbo? Surley wouldnt be good for the car? I know you would get massive flutter but that would be all the air go back to the turbo.... Could you do the mod which was done on the BA/BF Units... The pipe returning air to the Cold air side, remove that and put a little filter on it. And plug the hold on your crossover?

I'm not going to do the leg work, but there is a full description on this forum somewhere, from Simon at Nizpro explaining what the blow off valve is for and how it will not affect your turbo by not having one.

If your not sure do a search and find the answers as I'm not going to explain it.

Happy researching.

OK so I had aquick look and this should explain it. Read post #17'

Best thing about the FG's is you could fit a big arse turbosmart dual port on the factory plumbing easy as. Then she'll be LOUD.
