PMSL Deano awww.

I calculated the ~ $3k per week off the annual wage that was quoted to me by my mate who is setting up the gang that I will hopefully be part of up there, so it's paid all year round dude not just for 'on' weeks. I wouldent go there for $102k I pretty much get that just on the Harvey job atm, I expect about $150 doing the Port Headland thingo.

$150k does sound like BS at first I know but consider 12 hour shifts, living in a mobile camp rather than a permanant one like the Rio or FMG boys get, Labour, Casual loading (no paid leave, RDO's, etc etc), 2&1 FIFO and all the tax-free allowances you get for being there and yep it adds up

I just prey the credit crunch dosent mean China stops needing our minerals to produce stuff for the tumbling US market, bye bye mining industry.

Luke what were you doing for 14-16 hour days? Man even if you were just picking up poo you still would have been absolutely raking it in

Im a heavy duty mechanic, so i was out heavy duty mechanicing....

Are you sure the allowances are tax free? You might find a portion is tax free but not 100%. Tax man is going to love you either, you'l pay off and F6 in tax payments in the first year (if you last a full year...ever been through a pilbara summer?)

Awwwwwkay, got a mate working for FMG who does same as you 8&6 FIFO... um he gets $123k annual salary from memory which is awesome working only half the year in an airconditioned workshop with all the full time benifits

Yep I like the heat but I'll have to get fitter and drop some KG's to last the extreme summers they get... I heard it hits fiddy degrees?

Routinely. People die up there from the heat. Especially if out the back of buum phuck surrounded by hills made of iron ore. I have measured pit floor temps of 70deg c up there in summer.

Haha jealous for sure! I'm only on half of your proposed salary & have to sit in an air conditioned office with net access & a work car... Not to mention great benifits! :crybaby:

Just out of curiosity, what's the go with your studies? Are you gonna go to uni or was the TEE just for fun? Lol
