This is a very cool feature, it gives you maximum grip without wheel spin, but the launch control, paired with traction control, sure its quick, but it takes the fun out of driving haha. Very good feature though IMO

Launch control is still active even with Traction Contol turned off, tried it the other night.

I haven't tried it with Traction Control on yet, but in the dry with Traction Control off there was anough axle tramp to make repeating the exercise not particularly desirable....

First impressions for me was the steering is much lighter than B series and the acceleration is brutal, instant torque available almost everywhere. Right from take off the turbo is working its balls off and doesn’t stop! These cars need to be driven with traction control on at most times as the rear end kicks out for jokes.

Driven normally though and the car is just has happy to cruise along at normal speeds. The engine sound of the new car I think has more of a skyline/ Japanese car sound to it, with popping coming from the exhaust on accelerator lift off. The steering was quite neutral with a good amount of feedback, the front end also understeers notably less than the B series. For me though the brakes are underdone big time, these cars are just as fast if not faster than BF Typhoons and they came standard with brembos, this is something ford should look at with the MK2 versions.

In conclusion I think these are a great update of are beloved B series turbos, they have improved the handling, engine performance and arguably the looks as well.

I hope people find this review helpful some parts may be not as accurate seeing as iam only 18.

I know iam going to cop a flogging for what I just said. But I have raced go karts/ cars for the last 8 years of my life with my dad being a long time car racer so I do have more of an education in motoring than most 18 year olds.

Thanks again

The brakes are fast becoming a joke on the FG. Expensive Daewoo are the same with the utter cr@p they put in their Calais and SS.

This is the first upgrade one should do as the standard brakes are dangerous for cars with this weight and performance.

try free revving an auto in neutral

Umm, yeah.... it has a rev limiter there - but have you ever tried banging the stick back into D - cos if you have you will know it is a stupid idea and a quick way destroy a $7K gearbox...

Or you could just put your foot on the brake and stall it up - that's how people have been launching autos for years....

The brakes on XRs and SSs (they both run pretty much the same set ups) have been underdone for years. Even the upgrades have been insufficient. I can't for the life of me understand how they save much money by not using better set-ups. This issue is not restricted to Ford and Holden. Subaru put the same brakes from a base model Imprezza on the bigger, heavier, much faster Forrester XT.

Maybe their warranties state you're allowed to accelerate hard, but you have to brake gently

I didnt think the falcons let you put the car in a different gear whilst its revving, so you cant rev it up in neutral then bang it into drive, I beleive it is controlled by the PCM and it wont select the gear until the revs come down. Maybe its only at speed though because I know over 5 - 10 km/h if you select a different gear it wont work until you slow down. Ahh well to hell with auto's, real men drive manuals :tonguepoke::spoton::stirthepot:

What I find pathetic is they'll load the car full of useless sh*t and people will pay for it, but ask them to pay for good brakes and most will tell you to get stuffed. Even when you try to sell good brakes privately they expect to get them for nothing.
