I'm looking at getting a 4" dump pipe with a 3.5' cat and 3.5' piping to a muffler (which I havent decided which to go with yet). I only want to run no more than 13psi with the tune and I was wondering whether the 4" dump and exhaust would effect the turbo's ability to hold boost? Or does this only happen when the boost is higher?

The larger dump will make it harder for the standard actuator to hold steady boost. A good idea would be to get an 8 or 10 psi wastegate actuator that will hold your desired boost level with ease.

Why do you only want to run 13psi specifically? What do you run now?

^^^ This is also a good point - if you only intend to go to 13psi, you will not need the massive flow potential of a 4" dump

At the moment I'm only running the factory tune until I finish all my mods and have it tuned. I only want to run low boost (13psi) because its a fairly new car and its my everyday driver. If it was my old r32 I would run 17 no worries. I just dont want to push my car that far when it is only 2 years old. So if I go 4" dump with a 10psi wastegate actuator it should be fine? That way later on if I decide I want more power I can just get a new tune saves buying another dump. Only problem with the 10psi actuator would be I cant run a 8psi tune ( which I would run when I'm just driving the car to work). Can you get an actuator that can range from 8-15psi?

you can get an 8psi actuator I believe, that would probably be at its limit at around 15psi, but who knows. The stock actuator is rated at like 3psi, but it can hold up to 12 in some applications!

Either way you will need a stronger actuator, so have a chat to your workshop and they will point you in the right direction - oh and keep us updated!

I think I might keep the standard dump and do a 3" system with the 3.5" high flow cat

3 inch system has less flow then standard twin 2.25 exhausts... Just removed center muffler
