ive had my ute for about 2 months now and its been great. the previous owner has modded it up to 327rwkw and its a nice car but lately it seems to have suffered a noticable drop in power. mind u its still hell quick just lately it seems to have lost some of its real punch.

the exhaust note has changed slightly at low revs as well, paticularly low revs in a higher gear, the exhaust note seems to change more to a truck sound at below 1200rpm. so I was thinking from reading here that the turbo could have come loose but upon inspection it seems fine so I thought maybe the cat has died? the car has an aps exhuast fitted from the dump all the way back.

any ideas?

Yeah, there is a good chance the cat has collapsed, the car will probably take longer to get up to boost and seem to struggle in the top end. Don't be too quick to dismiss the turbo bolts though. Check all the manifold-head bolts, then the turbo-manifold bolts/studs and then also check the dump pipe bolts.
