I find it funny when people say they voted for Krudd because they were sick of Howard's lies, etc.

As it turns out, most of the so called lies from Howard, were lies sperad by Labour, and people ended up voting for a mob who's whole campaign was based on lies!

Realistically Krudd didn't win the election, Howard lost. He got too cocky and didn't do enough to counteract Labour's smear campaigns. Unfortunatly too many Australian's take things at face value, rather than looking a little deeper for themselves.

I agree to a point, Howard thought the Australia public was smarter than they proved to be. He let his track record speak for its self and the Australia public seemed more amused with the Kevin 07 circus.

My bet is its a 1 term stint for Rudd then it will be Kevin who? and a Knight hood and the history books for Howard.

Has anyone thought that maybe Howard was tired and no-longer really wanted to be in office? I mean right or wrong he copped an absolute bashing for a long time (as any PM does) and I wouldn't hold it against him if he did come out and say "I've had enough". Obviously he loved his job and his country but maybe he went into the election with the attitude "whatever happens, happens"

just a thought :spoton:

I think that was exactly how it played out, and unfortunately his ego wouldn’t let him hand over the reins to someone else.

Bingo, I think we have a winner guys...

I know a few Liberal members (through the old man), and well basically its quietly said that he wanted to drag his arse over the line once more, but expected it to just happen based on his past terms and years in politics... The bigger problem was no one really knew who would 'seriously' be the next leader... and we can now all see just how it turned out...

As boring as it is, I flicked over to question time last night, and what a wank Rudd was... gave the longest answers I had ever heard, and really doesnt seem to carry the balls and strength in his personality that, Howard, Nelson, Mr T (as I like to call him), or even his own parties Kim, Keating, or Hawlk did....

Complete light weight IMO...

I reckon we give his missers a go in the chair one day as a fill in and I bet she has more balls to fight back and show some ability to - NOT JUST TALK... anyways...

Yep.

I was led to beleive by a few party members he wanted to resign before the previous election, but the party kept wanting him to stay, mainly because they had no one to take over. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that he may have thrown the election because he felt it may have been his only way out.

Little Johnny is at it again.

Kevin Rudd was visiting a primary school in Tasmania.

One class was in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings.

The teacher asked Mr. Rudd if he would like to lead the discussion on the word ‘tragedy’.

So the illustrious leader asked the class for an example of a ‘tragedy’.

A little boy stood up and offered: ‘If my best friend, who lives on a farm, is playing in the field and a tractor runs over him and kills him, that would be a ‘tragedy’.

‘No,’ said Rudd ‘that would be an accident.’

A little girl raised her hand: ‘If a school bus carrying fifty children drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside, that would be a tragedy’.

‘I’m afraid not,’ explained Mr. Rudd ‘that’s what we would call great loss’.

The room went silent. No other children volunteered. Rudd searched the room. ‘Isn’t there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?’

Finally, at the back of the room, little Johnny raised his hand.

In a quiet voice he said: ‘If a plane carrying you and Mrs. Rudd was struck by a ‘friendly fire’

missile & blown to smithereens, that would be a tragedy.’

‘Fantastic!’ exclaimed Rudd . ‘That’s right. And can you tell me why that would be tragedy?’

‘Well,’ says little Johnny ‘it has to be a tragedy, because it certainly wouldn’t be a great loss and it probably wouldn’t be a f*cking accident either!’
