Found this on News.com.au this morning..

THE new Ford Falcon has claimed its first victim. Holden Special Vehicles has killed off its supercharged V6 XU6 model weeks after the new Falcon was launched.

The $51,450 XU6 Holden had 180kW of power, while the $33,640 Falcon comes standard with 182kW of power from its base in-line six-cylinder engine.

HSV managing director, John Crennan, admits the power of the Ford was a factor in the demise of the XU6 and says it would have been too hard to crank any more power out of the 3.8-litre V6 engine.

"To be perfectly honest, we couldn't achieve the levels of output that we wanted to," Crennan said.

Poor Holden...

:P

What a surprise that they couldn't "achieve" any resonable outputs! I think HSv have had too many years of just pulling engines out of boxes!

8 to go!

I recall reading in a Wheels or Motor Magazine earlier in the year about what was expected to be the XR6T's output - around 210 KW. HSV responded that they could just turn up the boost of the supercharge to get 200KW. Wouldn't it be interesting to throw that in their faces

But not quite as harsh as a Expensive Daewoo reving its rings off trying to keep pace with new shiney BA turbo! :D :D

Apparently you can still place a 'special order' for an XU6 if your really want one. I just comes with all the gear from the clubsport, and I think it has been bumped up to 200kw. Either way, they will not make one unless you ask for it, and I don't see why anyone would when the XR6T is cheaper, quicker and much nicer... :D

Yup, they're called Expensive Daewoo drivers! :D

I saw some kid with a great shirt at the motorshow:

What do Holdens come with that Fords don't?

An extra dipstick in the driver's seat.

:D :D :D

hahaha at the t-shirt that one is great. You all know why the XR8 has been delayed. It's because it would get thrashed by an XR6-T and Ford had to find a way to beef up the car to beat it otherwise nobody would buy one. Man I can't believe people you to pay $50-odd grand to get an sh*tty V6 S/C HSV. Imagine getting beaten by an XT, you would FUME! It's all cake and pudding in the fact Expensive Daewoo eat balls.
