New Fg Xr6 Turbo Problem

Hi guys - relatively new to this forum. Picked up my Ego FG XR6 Turbo automatic about 8 days ago - now at 700kms on the odo.

I used to have a VE SS Commodore (V8 6 litre) and the FG kills that in pretty much every department. Very impressed! Love the in gear acceleration.

I have, however, struck one problem. This morning twice I have experienced an "ETC fault" code on the dash that apparently relates to the electronic throttle control. Both occassions have occurred when giving the car wide open throttle. I can clear the error by restarting the car.

I know I now need to take the car to the dealer - but it is still a pain in the ass

Anyone had this issue before? If yes, did the dealer resolve quickly?

I've not had that problem but heard of it happening on very rare occasions.

The throttle pedal assembly is a variable resistor and the wizardry inside the box can get confused and stuck.

Lucky you haven't experienced your car at a stuck WOT position !

I'd be getting it back to the dealer asap if I was you.

Shouldn't be too hard to fix.

Out of curiosity why the quick jump form a VE SS to an FG T. Most ppl im seeing going from a BA/BF T to a VE SS but not the other way around.

I.B.

I needed to change to an automatic vehicle so it was time to change from the SS.

I noticed today that the FG is pretty bad in the wet compared to the SS. No traction! Even with the stability control on it can push hard sideways with half throttle. Maybe my tyres need to scrub more - I am at 800kms?

Yeh Iconic, I'm one of them. Have had a BA XR8 & BF XR6T & won't be going back to a Ford any time in the future ! Ironically I enjoy driving the VE SS over both the previous (except the "A"pillar) Ford's especially going for brakes at speed & getting no feedback through the steering wheel. The SS just seems more planted on the road, more room inside, bigger seats & surpriseingly 14.5lt to 100 (5,200k's) around town. Haven't taken it on a long trip but G/Coast to Brisbane at 100k's shows 8.9ltr 100 average at 1500rpm (6/auto). I find the vehicle better to drive in everyday conditions with more grunt down low than the XR8 with more linear power than the Turbo which was either on or off boost. But the ZF Auto leaves the GM product for dead, although I believe the newer SS models are programmed with a better format. After having Ford's for years I never thought I would be driving a GM product, but Ford's quality control finally changed that, (although Expensive Daewoo also has it's prob's) & I'm more happier with this vehicle with no complaints so far. Will probably go back to a "Racoon" when the final model comes out !

Sorry to report the Ford dealer had the car for 2 days - they said it was a throttle sensor problem. They replaced the throttle sensor.

Great, I think. Then I drive the car out of the dealership - give it some throttle and flash flash ECT fault....

This sort of thing just pisses me off as it just says to me they didn't even properly test drive the car - and they had the car for 2 days!

Now I need to return the car back again for a 3rd day to resolve this. Car is not even 2 weeks old yet. Maybe the VE SS wasn't such a bad car afterall - never had 1 reliability issue.
