seventytwo Still have a turbo, it's just on a diesel. I recon ETM nailed this one, as cars don't usually just burst into flames.Glad your bud was ok. All in all he got out safe and that's the main thing.Cheers,Rob- T6XR Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/49950-mates-car-caught-on-fire/page/2/#findComment-738337 Share on other sites
TURBOXR I miss her... Donating Members 703 Member For: 20y 8m 27d Gender: Male Location: Melbourne Posted 21/09/08 06:13 PM Share Posted 21/09/08 06:13 PM My old xf almost did that to me once. Luckily I was outside a restaurant and I managed to get into the kitchen and borrow a powder extinguisher before it took hold. It never got to the cabin but toasted the engine bay pretty good. Its amazing how fast cars can go up. Ever since that ive always carried an extinguisher. MICKAJ Member 245 Member For: 17y 3m 21d Posted 09/10/08 02:24 AM Share Posted 09/10/08 02:24 AM Could be anything, doesn't have to be mods!!Could have had any number of fuels lines off the car leaving a chance for it to slowly loosen, or weakened the end of a hose by pulling on it.Car fires are all the rage, they are usually over and gone within 30 mins of happening pending tow truck. If you have to rely on the CFA in a rural area then chances are the fire will put itself out first Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/49950-mates-car-caught-on-fire/page/2/#findComment-746827 Share on other sites
