dat_40l Donating Members 997 Member For: 19y 6m 26d Gender: Male Location: newcastle NSW Posted 22/09/08 01:22 PM Share Posted 22/09/08 01:22 PM (edited) I have an engineers cert done by athol mullens up here in newcastle, that says my atmosphere venting BOV is legal and does not break any ADR's as the vehicle does not have a air flow meter like skylines does. so therefore the venting of gass is not illegal as it does not effect our car as the run a map sensor instead. as athol explained it to my with the airflow meter they measure for example 100 unit sof air and then sets aside 100 units of fuel to go with it, but when the BOV vents 20 units of air then the emissions change due to the richer mixture. so we don't have this problem with the map sensor. you can not be done for noise either because a drive by noise test does not involve changing gears or backing off the accelerator there fore the BOV will not activate and create and noise!! Now I know what to tell the cops in case they ask. Which doesn't mean I won't get defected. A friend of mine had he's stock standard exhaust defected few years back.
