I've decided to Nulon (E30 engine treatment) based on my previous experience and your feedback as I know your rides are as precious as mine and wouldn't want to do the wrong thing. This is despite all the negative stories I've read on the net regarding oil additives.Now..as a bit of a side issue....I have gone to the Castrol site and used thier ready reckoner where you start typing in your vehicle and select your model from the drop down list and then it recommend the most appropriate oil for your car. For mine it came up Magnatech. Now when I did this same sort of thing on the Nulon site, the function (drop down menu..the list of vehicles in order etc. etc.) was suspiciously the same. Can I suspect that there is an alliance of sorts between Castrol and Nulon or do you think that Castrol actually owns all or part of Nulon. Maybe they share the same web developer. This could, say, give Nulon a bit of credibility if associated with Castrol. Also as Castrol's site came up with Magnatech as the recommended oil and Magnatech has that fancy stuff that "clings" to the engine (ala Nulon), is there some sort of synergy going on here.Just a thought. The Nulon is probably good for the price, but the Motul 10w 60 runs the engine much smoother and quieter with better oil pressure, but it cost 3 times the price of Nulon.Comparing brands using two different viscosities is a flawed exercise at best. Any -60 oil is gonna give you higher pressure, nevermind the French stuff. It is 50% thicker at operating temp than the engine spec calls for after all. Personally, I'd only be using a -60 weight oil in a motor with billet oil pump gears as you're asking a fair bit more of the oil delivery system if giving it some stick. Cruising would be ok. If at least quality additives don't work, why do oil manufacturers add many compounds to their base oil product?I have never had an engine failure running Nulon even when I boosted my 250 alloy head crossflow to 28lb boost (once only and then chickened out adding any more). Also beware of running full synthetic in a road car that is not being driven hard. Racing yes, ordinary use no. Full synthetic is not recommended by the motorcycle shops that I visit as in normal road use it will glaze the bores and start using oil (and they make 180hp/litre). They recommend semi synthetic as a better choice.Just my 10 cents. Just my little bit, and my mechanic also has a BA too, so I guess whatever is good for his own car is good for mine.Steve Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/49904-to-nulon-or-not-to-nulon/page/2/#findComment-738357 Share on other sites

I'm sure it's not just a placebo effect as you do get to know after a while what your ride sounds and feels like. So I'm sure I'm already feeling the benefits. Go Nulon.Bye the way...I read that the ZF 6 speed transmission is a sealed unit and you can't top it up with something like Nulon Auto Tranny additive. If I'm wrong...can someone tell me where can I pour it into the transmission fluid!!!
