Hi mate. Elite recomended BOB GRANT and GILROY auto's. They said Bob Grant is really good but he is expensive and that Gilroys is good to. Gilroys is where I took my car but he is in Toowoomba. Hope this helps.

Steve

hey FPV_Steve.. if ya dont mind me asking how much did bob grant quote you and more importantly how much was gilroys??what did you get done there just a rebuild or a bit a beefing up aswell??cheers

straughsberry, any idea how much a c9 conversion would cost if I did this myself.. keen to go with another box instead of the 4 speed but if the cost of this exercise is just too much well I might have to keep the 4 speed..oh and no problem with the revs at 100kmh being around 3 grand, my VK (I know its got a Expensive Daewoo badge lol) sits at about 3200 at 100..

Cheers again for ya input guys!!

cheers for the quick response straughsberry, did alot of humming and harin' and I think im going to just beef up the 4 speed, im not going to be pushing anymore than 350rwkw in the future so its proablly just over kill anyway but would like the confidence in a strong box but hey..have been giving it a bit of a punishment this week in an attempt to see if it will blow up so far it`s still feels good..pulls second gear skids no brake no prob..if weather permits tomorrow ill take it to test and tune and flog it some more, im betting that's were it will die.. in front of everyone :tonguepoke: lol.. any punters on how long my box will last???

Get a cooler on it if you haven't yet and treat it nicely. That is, if you feel axle tramp get off it straight away and don't give it heavy throttle in 4th. Also by monitoring the trans temp you can potentially save your box. Heat is a killer 220c and below is optimum and prolonged high temps above that can kill your box. 240 or 250 is starting to get fairly dangerous. Get a temp guage on that sucker. In fact becasue of limited realestate, you could just have 2 sender units, one from the engine and one from the trans, on the one guage and have a selector switch to choose.

Keep us updated on how your trans holds up.

Hi cordiaturbz1. I did not get a quote from Bob Grants, elite told me they are good but expensive. Quote from Gilroy's was $2,200 for a complete rebuild. As it turns out my box is still good apart from the C1 clutch pack being burnt again (3 time in 2000kms no 3rd and 4th gear!!!!) Give Peter from Gilroys a call he is a top bloke. I am getting the C1 clutch beefed up and he does some other goodies that should be good for ages on 320rwkw which is what I have.

Stick to the 4 speed mate, there are so many people that bag them and say there sh*t but I think for the power our cars run through them there a tuff box, I mean I was pulling 300 rwkw and over for like 2 year before it let go and only reverse let go I might add, and I drive my car f*cking hard e.g, stalling the stock coverta up, 20 odd pass at calder with mt's, I use my auto to brake (down gearing) ive hit the gear limiter a few times and it held up for that long.

So my take on these box's is its pretty f*cking good, I just had mine rebuilt to the standed specs but had it blue printed and add'ed a 2800 stallie, and ive also never had and still dont have a trans cooler.

dont get me wrong the C series are great auto but not for an every day street car and I dont care what any ones says there not.

And there is also a guy called dion who has run a 10.2 sec pass on a 4 speed.
