Sitting back and accpeting a half arsed show, while calling those who bother to point out their objections whingers is the worst thing you could do if you want the show to succeed.

As enthusiests, we all want the show to be good, and to suceed, that's why so many of us are pissed off and dissapointed at the shwo so far. Sitting back and accepting it won't get us anywhere (this is why so many manufacturers produce crap, because of the current culture of accepting mediocrity).

Maybe, just maybe the producers or researchers search the web for comments on their show, and maybe they'll take some of the constructive criticism on board and the show improves. It's a long shot I know, but at least it's something.

Also, it's not us thrying to compare the show to the UK one, they are, and that is where they're getting it wrong. They're trying too much to be mirror images, while dropping the ball on what the show is about, cars. So far, their tests and challenges have been utterly pointless, and the whole show has been built around their lame arsed challenges, not the cars. TGUK don't do more than one challenge a show, and sometimes not at all. When they trash cars, it's usually some old heap of crap, or a cheap little Echo or the like, never anything like brand new $35k+ cars. Clarkson and the boys might go out and drift a few new cars aropund, but they always deliver an oponion and figures on what their testing.

Sorry, weather you like it or not, the show has to improve a looooong way in order to be close to a worthwhile car show.

 to you

Spot on Tmac.

At the very least UKTG gives me a good laugh, the Aussie version just makes me cringe.

In its purest, lamest form, it is a show about cars, of which we dont have much to choose from.

Sure its far from perfect, but what is on TV these days??

So they ruined a few utes, which would have been handed over by the manufacturers, happy to waste 30k or so to get on them on TV, does it really matter?

We saw the new F6 on TV, would that have happened without this show?

All the HSV guys sat their thinking "yeah, beat that dam turbo thing" and all of us turbo guys sat there and thought " Pfft, if he could drive, the F6 would have flogged it, we can see your dodgy editing"

It was a middle man, fence sitting report done on its knees for Ford and Holden... atleaste we didnt see Jeremy bagging out anything that's not Euro quality... we all saw him go to town on the Manaro, imagine what he would have said about these two cars... would not have been nice.

If all these negetive coments are read by anyone that has anything to do with the show, and they will (I'm sure the producer/editor whoever has been emailed a heap of forum links to look at, such as this one) then hopefully the show will grow stronger, learn from its mistakes and become a fine program, just like the other show did.

If we all tune out, and dont watch it, ratings will dive (even more), the show will get axed, and we wont have an Aus top gear.

It ain't no "big brother"," aust idol", "so you wanna be a bimbo" ect ect that the masses like to tune into, but I know which one I'd rather waste an hour of my time on.

You got a point RAPID, but I hate fence sitting reports, maybe they shouldn't insult cars like Jeremy does but at least be honest, nicely point out each cars good and bad things.

Jeremy also tested a VE R8 and liked it, so he doesn't necessarily trash talk everything not euro.

Hyped up the Ford v Expensive Daewoo on the adds..."the show you've all been waiting for"

And there I was, thinking I'd actually get some information from that show....

got sweet FA. (apart from the fact that psuedo Hamster dosn't know sh1t about how to launch a phoon.)

All in all, a gutless effort I think. it's now "the show were all still waiting for"

next time pseudo James May picks up a texta and paper for the show, they should break his fingers.

pseudo-Clarkson remainds me too much of darryl eastlake; both annoying in the extreme.

Aus-stig has the most screen presence and personallity out of the lot of 'em.

All this would be OK if it were funny.

But it aint.

P.S Sadly, it's still better television than 95% of the cr@p on free to air.

Agreed, but so far they have not demonstrated a need for an Aussie Top Gear. They showed Red v Blue with no conclusion, the rest has been cars we've already seen reviewed on the UK show, mixed with some try hard, humourless attempts to emulate the UK challenges, etc.

The F6s and HSVs have had better, more conclusive reviews on the show everyone hates on Chanel 9.

Their biggest failing with the show, is that it is clear that there is not much real world car knowledge demonstraded by the presenters or producers. A big factor in the UK show is that Clarkson knows his stuff, and is a big contributor to the show's content, etc. Here they need to tap into the reall Aussie car culture, give the show a Top Gear feel, but do something different, stop trying to be too funny (that'll come as they get more relaxed with the show). Give us places to cruise to in Australia, driving trips, news relevant to Australia.

Unfortunatly, if they don't do something, and fast, they'll have no one left watching (that's television folks)!

It needs something, and fast. It's to much of a clone. (Right down to the identical studio).

I think the hosts need to work out how to work with each other quickly. They are NEVER going to be Clarkson, Hammond and May, which is what they are trying to be right now. They need to accept this and become themselves, otherwise this "fake" banter will kill the show.

I personally thought the camera work was pretty good for the most part, but I don't think highly of the test track, or at least the angles we have seen of it.

I'm personally hoping they can pull it off, but it's not the captivating viewing the UK version was. Monday night on SBS used to be the only thing I'd make a effort to watch on TV.
