stu-e Member 5 Member For: 16y 3m 30d Posted 14/09/08 07:11 AM Share Posted 14/09/08 07:11 AM I have recently purchased a FG turbo XR6 ute and when it got 1500ks on the clock the diff started to whine like my Mrs! It happens at about 105ks under load. Does anyone else have the same problem?

No trouble with mine after 3000K or any of the guys I know who have bought FGs recently. Had lots of noisy diffs (Ford replaced 2 on my BA ute) both noisy from new, dealer said they re-designed them and when they put the third one on I have had no troubles since. Take it back to Ford and tell them to fix it or replace it.Cheers

I'm sure the dealer will repair as required, it's just that I'd rather be driving it than dropping it in for 2 visits, one to confirm and another to repair / replace. If my ute's diff ever develops the noises/clunks, I would know what it is and act accordingly. Without such prior knowledge, I would probably panic and worry if my ute should fall apart or something serious wrong with it. Not everyone of us are expert in motor mechanics. Having read members' comments here, it would definitely helps me to explain the symtoms to my dealers if the same fault should happens to my ute. Keep up the discussions, doesn't matter what they are. Cheers.

Like yourself I would much prefer to be cruising around in my ute than getting it repaired, would be surprised if you're without it for more than a day.The "whining" coment was actually a pun. But anyway its still no good talking about it and getting angry or upset when your dealer will (should) fix it without any problems. Should take 15mins to drive it, determine the problem, put it on the hoist, get the numbers off the diff and order the replacement. Then organise a day to get it fitted. Guess anyone who bought a new car would expect the diff to last much longer, just wonder why it should fail on those new cars?

Brand new car and diff replacement in a car only a few weeks old is a joke. Exact same issues with my BA from new. Expensive Daewoo just as bad with my vx gen 3 used as much oil as petrol, harmonic noises that sounded like a didgereebloodydo. Seems it is a bit like a lottery if your going to get a reasonably fault free well built car. Think they need to study Toyota build standards. Have had a few toyotas from new and even after years of use nothing rattles, squeks, breaks etc. Rant over
