It looks like an 80s Volvo with big wheels.I've liked the look of the FG right from the start, but the more I see it, the more I like it. It may have to grow on some of you. But, like I've said before, I feel that many are saying they don't like the FG for the sake of saying it. Too many complain that they don't like it because it looks too similar to the BA/BF, which they love the look of. That just doesn't make sense. The SRT is at least a big ugly Mopar. I don't think, and I have never said that the FG looks like a BF. Horses for courses. I do like the red, white, and black F6s but after owning 5 of them and waiting 4 years the FPV quality control is still crap and I ain't giving them any more of my hard earned, as well as that its just time for a change. The R Spec has 12k on it now makes the grunt but its time for something new. The Audi is something I hadn't considered Dags. I'm off to London at the end of next week and I might give one a trot while I'm over there. Trouble is with the Euros they lose value twice as quick as the FPV and I don't mind a 20-25k tear up, but the Audi would drop twice as much twice as fast. If I could get one at a Euro price I wouldn't think twice.Anyway if Dags can get an SS without too much rebuke I can have an SRT. From the front it looks crap due to the farcical large 70's style flares and high ugly bonnet line. You'd think they were trying to fit 335 tyres under the front guards they are so large and look totally ridiculous on base model cars with skinny tyres. The FG is not a bad looking car at all, but the huge overhangs look crap and the VE really is a lot better in this regard with very short front overhang like a BMW 3 series. FG look s better than VE from front and rear though, with much nicer lights.I'm disappointed the body work of the FPV's isn't different enough from the standard XR models too. Volume doesnt justify major changes. The FG's interior imo is class leading, they really got that right. Can you imagine Ford in Oz without an aussie built Falcon in their range? I believe that has to be a real possibility if things dont improve.Scary thought.

I also agree that the VE and FG both have their good and bad points, both in looks and overall package. Which ultimately balances the two out as market competitors.I also agree that people might want to change and look elswhere, when you look at the whole market, there is a lot on offer. But, I also understand that everyone on this forum is a car enthusiest. We only make up a very small part of the market, we tend to be more critical of every new model, and we tend to focus on power and performance, rather than comfort, economy, etc. But, again, my point is none of the issues with the look of the car, etc, It is down to Ford completely dropping the ball with their marketing. The average punter still doesn't even know there is a new Falcon on the market, all the new adverts talk about are the 'G' series. People that happen to see the adverts think it's a different model, and nothing to do with the large family cars they buy. And, they don't mention the better fuel economy, etc. It's not just Falcon. Expensive Daewoo advertises the crap aout of their inferior Daewoo Epicas, yet when was the last time you saw a Mondeo advert?Unfortunatly, the position Ford finds themselves in right now is their own doing, and is further compounded by the fact that it is a culture they adopted well over a decade ago. The longer they let it go on, the harder and longer it will be to recover.

Compare mazda and ford, essentaily they offer the same cars with the same engines just restyled and the odd minor changes here and there.. in august they soldmazda 2 : 1,173 fiesta : 462mazda 3 : 2,693 focus : 1,018mazda 6 : 680 mondeo : 498 Edited 17/09/08 12:13 AM by iTec
