Can't dissagree with that. My point is that the days of relying on large cars for dominance in Australia are over. Ford Australia is being crippled through the US not allowing them to export, as well as their lack of marketing prowess (ie developing their products to meet the demands of the customers, then properly promoting them).

The sales of SUVs aren't only up here. The UK, Europe and parts of Asia are experiencing similar increases in the SUV market. It's the US where the market is dying, and that's mainly because most of the American SUVs are big, old technology, fuel chewing, heavy V8s.

Total car sales in Australia are well up, but there is so much more choice out there, Ford and Expensive Daewoo are no longer the only options.

On the leaf spring issue, that actually works in Ford's favour on the utes. They outsell Expensive Daewoo because their utes are proper workhorses, Expensive Daewoo themselves have admitted their utes are more for show now, and have resigned to the fact thad Ford has the workhorse market covered. That said, there's no excuse for Ford having different set-ups of the XR and FPV utes.

well imo, ford may loose alot of its ute fans with the design on the fg ute. its hideous.. and people who say that the fg isnt different enough to the bf. if you want to say that, look at holdens brand new colorado, then the late model rodeo, colorado took the place of the rodeo and they look EXACTLY the same, absolutely no difference appearance wise, only difference overall is the extra 12 grand they slapped onto the price. not that I was looking into them, id go a ranger over those pos any day.

imo the only good looking fg is the f6 and gt. rest are terrible.

Looks are subjective. Pleanty of people have said they like the FGs.

As we've already established, looks have little to do with it. With the right marketing, they could convince you it's the best car on the market, that you just have to have. Toyota sell some of the plainest, ugliest cars on the road, yet they outsell everyone off the back of a perception of reliability (which was gained throught one model, the Land Cruiser).

Hasn't been a problem, the FG ute is still selling very well and hasn't suffered the continuing loss of sales that the sedans have. It's been walloping the VE ute, which proves that Fords decision to appeal to the both the sports and tradies markets with the XR's and one tonners respectively was a good decision. The show pony VE has been selling about 25% less than the FG, probably because they only attract closet gay metro sexuals and not real men.

Well we all know that the falcon isnt selling the best but as far as an aussie maker of cars goes its not too bad. When you put the figures of the Terri and the falc together ford are selling around 3,500 of them a month
