Reading the official sales figures tonight, the Falcon continues to struggle with only 2800 sold last month.

Surely these sorts of figures cant be sustained long term.

The Late model camira in comparison sold 4800, so is this a supply issue as Ford ramps up production or has the FG just not enspired the market?

Falcon is an important car to Australia but if annual sales cant surpass 40,000, its future must be in doubt.

My opinion is they have missed with exterior styling being too conservative.

What do you guys think?

Although the FG is a better car than the BF, it is still a huge disappointment and really Ford dropped the ball big time. I saw a FG parked near my F6 the other week and it took me a few minutes to convince myself it was in fact the FG. Ford OZ really is being screwed by Ford America being a financial basket case and I'm sure they could have done a much better job given the resources. Still Ford OZ knew that big cars were on the nose and yet they sreleased a car that is larger and heavier than the already too large and heavy BF, did not change the styling enough, barely improved economy, and kept the ridiculously long overhangs.

I know I wouldn't buy one not that I'm even contemplating selling my BF for another 2-3 years anyway. I only got the BF due to the ridiculous power they can make, but certainly hate the size and weight, although they are brilliant long distance tourers. If only Ford would make a rear wheel drive Mondeo with a TT V6 as that car is more than large enough and actually has a longer wheelbase than the FG despite being over 200mm shorter. Hopefully the Torana concept will get off the ground as that's about the perfect size for a car - 3 series, A4 size.

I to think they went too conservative with the FG, they should of went all out and designed something a little more radical to get more sales and put a sparkle in the consumers eye. Something to get the heart pumping in any car enthusist young or old, to me I reckon the Fg is a little boring since its ment to be the "new" Falcon. Ford in my eyes just wanted to play it safe and didnt have the balls to go a different approach to their styling.

Any how that's my opinion!, hope I havent angered any Fg owners out there......

The VE commodores are possibly the greatest looking car range ever released in Aus too, which surely can't help.

Yes sales are down, no it can't be sustained for the long term. What are we going to do? I honestly can't tell you...

The marketing is hopeless, the company is losing millions every month and the dealers are on their own.

FOR SALE: One slightly used, late model salesperson, keen to work. Needs to fuel turbo addiction....

Tell me your kidding?

I maybe a one eyed Ford supporter but the VE is just plain fugly to my eyes. Like most Dunnydores its hugely overdone & tacky IMHO.

Ford really do need to lift their marketing game. They have the best product they just need to sell it.

Although I like the cars, its not really my style, plus it is hard to get into. I might be looking for a different kind of sales role, something still in the automotive industry, but not cars as such.

Unfortunately Ford are not in the financial position to be marketing one particular vehicle, and sticking with it until the advertising gets through. They are trying to chase the market. When SUV's seem popular they advertise Territory, then the next week small cars are popular, so they'll promote Focus. They are just chasing their tales at the moment unfortunately.
