I originally switched it off with the little key thingy so that it wouldn't be troublesome for the panel beater. But now that the car has returned, the alarm does not function properly (wails everytime I attempt to lock the doors). HOWEVER...I have noticed that the interior courtesy lights do not work either...If I assume that a missing or blown fuse is the cause for the interior lights not working...could this also be the cause for the alarm to malfunction. Where should I be directing my next line of enquiry do you think? Any advise from anyone with auto electrical knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Map80 or a stand alone system I.e. M60 or M80? if its an upgrade then by the sound of it the alarm might be out of sync with the car. Problem solved by unplugging alarm module, key out of ignition, door open, wait 30ish seconds for the car to power down (until power windows no longer work) then plug alarm module back in, close doors etc... and the alarm should work as normal. If it is an out of sync problem....I would assume the shop that originally installed it could bring it back into sync as you describe....I'm hoping he knows exactly what you mean or what the problem is as soon as I mention it to him. Just wanted to know whether no interior lights and the alarm sounding when trying to lock the doors had some association? Hope this goes in future towards answering this problem for anyone else in a similar situation.
