I use Optima Yellow tops. Have done so in my past few cars.

Can say I've never had a problem, and they have all lasted for longer than I've ever kept any of my cars!

The've all been powering modified cars with decent stereos and have never missed a beat. Car even starts more confidently than the stocko batt.

Looks cool too ;)

I've got the yellow top Optima in three cars. I have some small issues with them. I find that the alternator finds it hard to charge these batteries and that every now and then you need to put a charger on them for a good long charge.

Also, lead acid bats tend to charge up to a 13.X volts whilst the Optimas only every charges up to a 12.X volts.

Otherwise OK for cars not driven often but wouldnt use for an every day car again.

I've used an Odyssey battery in the past.

Slightly lower than the standard battery and about three times the weight.

17.1kg if I recall, but 1000cca.

Only downside was the cost.

I nearly didn't buy it due to the $350 price tag, but glad I did in the long run.

Thanks. What about no brands but what to look for with specs? Also is it worth investing in a decent CTEK or other charger?

I think you guys should just buy an automatic charger

Costs bugger all and you just hook it up and leave it till you want to drive!!

go to www.projecta.com.au and look at automatic chargers.

I can probably direct you to a supplier if needed
