Guest ante Guests Posted 28/07/03 02:52 AM Share Posted 28/07/03 02:52 AM I must say guys if I did not discover this site a few months ago the XR would be in my garage today! Im trying to wait untill some of the problems are sorted out. Spending 50 or 60 grand scares me when you get a few broblems. Guest rabbit Guests Posted 29/07/03 07:14 AM Share Posted 29/07/03 07:14 AM I took my BA XR6 (non-turbo) to the dealer yesterday with the following list of items:1. Alternator whining when headlights on (worse with demister). Alternator suppressor?2. Transmission rough changes (2-3-2). Sticky trans solenoid?3. Oil leak(s)4. Steering rack fluid leak5. Stalling/rough idle. Replace idle solenoid?6. Clicking from diff. May need to be re-secured (again).Car was there all day and nothing got fixed. The big problem is that the oil is leaking from the sump gasket. They will replace it later this week. Apparently it's 8hrs labour (under warranty of course) because they have to remove steering and suspension components. They'll also fit an alternator suppressor to eliminate the whining.Couldn't find anything wrong with the transmission. I got the old "keep an eye on it".Also going to change the idle solenoid and may change the diff if it gets worse.NOT HAPPY JAN! XRBloke Donating Members 1,219 Member For: 22y Posted 31/07/03 11:15 AM Share Posted 31/07/03 11:15 AM Hahaha here we go, thank god im not the only one. Well my AUIII - no its not a BA, but its close enough haha, neways has been to my local dealer three - yes three times in the passed two weeks to have gearbox issues looked at. Its an Auto and all I can say is that, Ford if that's the best you can do, you wont ever see me again, I also have a BA Futura and I can tell you after this service im not at all happy. The first day I took the XR6 in I was given a Loan car, which was dirty and smelt like somoene had taken a sh*t inside it literally, so I washed it as soon as I got home (yes im fussy but neways) I go back the next day to pick my XR up and Im told that sorry Sir the gearbox tech wasnt here, but I got one of the boys to talk to BTR about it and they seam to think its got a problem, can we rebook, so im like yep ill re - book for next monday and hes like fine (I said I wanted a loan car again). Neways I get to my belovered ute and hop inside to find that half the centre console has been pulled apart with my 2 phone kits and not screwed back together properly, that's fine I fixed it when I got home myself but it just shows how good they are with their stuff. Anyways I took it back for round two, drop it off and get offered an old GLI wagon as a loan car, so I soon said no thank you to that (I think I wanna live a bit longer). SO neways another day went by with no contact from them. Went to pick up in the arvo, Sir your car has not been done today, sorry but we had too much work on (which could be understandable considering I rebooked giving them two days notice) neways I take back for third shoot at it on monday, go to pick it up and wooolaaaaa, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG with the car, its a common problem / characteristic in all Falcon utes! My dealer loves saying common characteristic, do they learn this at the Ford Learning days??????So im like well ive wasted three days. By the way I seem to always get my car back with a very low DTE reading, and once I caught them reving the sh*t out of the car when it was up on the hoist, is this standard practice? I actually had a go at the service manager once about the fuel consumption while the car was in his hands, and also let him know that I seen one of his so called mechanics doing about 200 kms on the service road just down from the dealership in his AUII XR8 sedan. If these clowns cant even look after their bosses cars, why should we expect them to look after ours? All I can say is ford buy back all your dealerships and run them internally, because the way things are going now, your getting alot of customer dissatisfaction. Maybe the AU wasn't such a bad car, maybe Ford just has a terrible service reputation! Guest rabbit Guests Posted 31/07/03 11:51 AM Share Posted 31/07/03 11:51 AM Well, I now have no doubts - Ford service departments have serious issues that need to be addressedThey fixed the oil leaks. The alternator is another story. After telling me that they were going to fit a suppressor, they reckon that on this occassion they couldn't replicate the problem, so didn't bother to fix it. So, I jumped in the car with him to show him the problem for a 4th time. Booked me in again to get the alternator replaced altogether. And reckons they changed the idle solenoid too and it's running "smooth as silk". 5kms down the road it stalled on me.Rest assured, apart from warranty work, no Ford dealership will ever see my car. Guest brett Guests Posted 16/08/03 07:56 AM Share Posted 16/08/03 07:56 AM Davo, To be a bit blunt Demand a Brand new car!! Yes they will do it. BMW have replaced a few cars for customers who have had problems like yourself. My mate had his replaced because of the paintwork. Talk to the dealer if no luck have a chat to Ford Aust if no luck have a chat to ACA or someone like that.
