Chances are that if you drive the car in such a manner that you really would benefit from a T TImer then you are also going be up for a few more repairs too. Drive the last minute sensibly after the trip - even the idling whilst you get out and open garage doors etc benefits the syste. Completely unecesary IMO and rates with go fast stripes and ashtrays in benefits.

Just be wary of turbo timers, at least have an emergeny "off" switch..

A mates car (Gold Booya Magna) burnt to the ground when he had a fire catch under his bonnet..

Turned the car off and the turbo timer kicked in.. Fuel kept getting pumped in and down she went..

Not sure how you can come to this conclusion. There is simply no way that if you drive hard, you can stop, turn off the car, and walk away and be sure you arent causing a negative impact on the turbo. Its impossible. Something at near 1000 degrees or similar will not be adequately cooled by gravity fed cooling or expansion cooling, even if Ford DOES give it a cool name like Thermosyphon. The oil in it WILL cook to some degree...and that is not good.

Turbo timers are far from Rice like you suggest. if you drive hard, they can be a great idea.

(Perhaps you just dont drive hard enough to get your turbo to full temp...even a minute of crusing prior to stopping or openeing the garage isnt enough to cool it...unless you and I have very different concepts of what driving hard is).

Dan,

There are a few threads here about the TT, but very few if anyone runs them.

The T does not require one, plus the imobiliser can cause issues with TT's.

My advice is just take it easy for the last 2 mins of your trip to let the turbo spin down and cool off and you will be fine.

TT's are also illegal as you are not allowed to leave a car running unattended :spoton:

Wow, it is funny how, even after a relatively short time, you begin to see how often the same old topics get raised. Must be quite frustrating for some of the longer serving members around here! :spoton:

But it's great to see that there's always some patient soul willing to give out helpful (and free!) advice, that's what makes this forum so great!

Despite the apparent lack of need (but many turbos are water cooled), I've never heard of a solution in any of these thread for the T for anyone wanting to consider it. By this I mean one that would allow you to jump out, lock the doors and have it time out. Maybe it is not possible.

I think xlr8ed has a timer on his, but the only limitation is that you have to lock the vehicle by key rather than remote when the timer is active.

Not everyone drives like Jeff though!

Trent.
