when my car was on the dyno recently, it had the rocker garnish off for a couple of runs and I actually saw the coil on No 1 pop up, so they can come off

I've seen the same thing too. So they can come off. The coils are on properly, because they run fine at stock. It's not spluttering unless under full throttle

My car was missing at around 12psi boost too and it ended up being a coil. The original coils looked fine, no sign of cracks on top or white arc marks on the boots. I also changed the plugs before hand and that made no difference.

I bought a genuine set of coils off ebay (new), replaced them all and it fixed the problem.
