CRUISE TO CAVS

SAT 27TH SEPTEMBER

WHAT

Travel from Oxenford south on M1 to the state of the freaks, to Murwillumbah then north-west through Chillingham, back over the border, to Springbrook, to Gold Coast and finishing with dinner at Cav’s Steakhouse in Labrador. After din dins possibly a lap of Surfer’s or something if anyone is up for it.

BRISBANE MEETING POINT

1:00 pm Shell Belmont (southbound Old Cleveland Road exit) Google Map

CRUISE COMMENCES FROM

Siganto Drive, Oxenford for a 2:00 pm departure. Google Map

This is just in front of an industrial estate, figured this would be better than trying to meet at a servo or shopping centre on a Sat arvo. There is a BP travel centre the next exit north of Oxenford for those wishing to grab a bite to eat etc. before we get going. They have a Krispy Kreme kiosk there as well now for those that get excited about overrated bundles of doughy fat!

The Oxenford exit is the most confusing intersection known to man, consists of a motorway overpass, about twenty sets of lights and lanes going in every conceivable direction. Have done a bit of a map to try and make things a bit simpler...

WHAT TO BRING

- car

- occupants (optional)

- drinks/afternoon tea if desired

- uhf radio

- plenty of fuel

THE FINE PRINT

In order for every body to have a good time, a few rules have been implemented. Failure to abide by these rules will ensure you are not invited to future events held by FordXR6Turbo.com.

The reasons for these rules are:

  1. Safety - We don't want to put any of our members, and the general public in any danger.
  2. Public Perception - We do not want the Ford XR6 Turbo community to face the same ridicule and stereotypes other car communities face.

The rules are simple:

  1. Obey all laws whilst on the cruise; this means no speeding, no overtaking over double lines etc... Any breaches will be reported to the local police.
  2. There is a designated cruise leader who will lead the way and set the correct pace for all cruise members.
  3. Use the Buddy system; always make sure you can see the car behind you. This will give people behind you an indication on where to turn and to make sure nobody gets lost or left behind.
  4. CB Radios; if you don't have one, follow the maps and directions given out. If you do have one, please limit chatter during the twisty parts of the cruise. This will allow the cruise leader to relay information about road conditions, upcoming obstacles, etc. efficiently.
  5. By attending this cruise you agree not to hold FordXR6Turbo.com, its Administrators, Moderators, Cruise Organisers, or Owners responsible/liable for any damage and/or grief sustained (simply; if you stuff up it's your fault, not ours).

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask before the cruise.

This weekend is school holidays in both Qld and NSW, so unfortunately there may be a bit more traffic on the highway but this date was chosen to fit in with a couple of people that are not normally in town (and are not normal people either!).

All up the cruise is about 200km from Oxenford to Labrador; but factoring in the purple and yellow ones running late, allowing time for talking poo, and quite a few sections of tight twisty roads it’ll take between 4-5 hours.

Whack your attendance in the events database to make things simple for me :beerchug:Click here to sign up, and please add your mobile number and rego to make things easy. These details are only visable to myself and other mods/admins.

The dinner component is completely optional, but if you are attending I require a confirmation of numbers by the 25th September. Cav’s website is here if you want to check the menu/prices. Confirm the number of humans eating in the guests field, if you’re not staying for dinner then just enter zero.

Any questions, fire away....

Good stuff.

Will let you know Tranny - promised a colleague my passenger seat but not sure if he can make it or not as yet. You’ll be pleased to know we aren’t going on the ‘goat track’ that left you a bit shattered last time!

Don’t forget ladies...
