The lack of an LSD has nothing to do with it, other wise you would just fit an aftermarket LSD

Mizark Member 2 Member For: 16y 2m 28d Posted 08/09/08 02:14 AM Share Posted 08/09/08 02:14 AM I have been talking to Ford about the lack of LSD on my G6ET & the fact that it isnt even an option. I was basically told that they are a luxury car & most people wont drive them hard. The dealer then went on to say that it is a high performace car later in the conversation.Ford have quoted me close to $2K to fit an LSD. I will be getting one elsewhere fitted for $1K.I will be flash tuning mine soon & want to keep as much power on the ground as possible.

Should have got one and just lock-welded the diff haha she'd be an animal then!

The only reason why I didn't get a G6ET was due to this no LSD option. I spoke with an engineer friend that works at Ford's proving ground and he said that it isn't possible due to the different traction control programs between each car. I'm not sure if the XR program could be adapted to the G6ET.

And, thae majority of buyers would never drive the thing without the traction control turned on. Also, and most likely the biggest reason, is that in certain conditions, and LSD will cause tyre squeel, something most buyers of a luxury model wouldn't tolerate.I'd like to have seen the LSD as an option, but if you where Ford, where do you draw the line on the options list? They already offer all the colours of the rainbow, multitudes of interior combinations, etc. Having to change the production line set-ups to install LSDs on some G6s would most likely be a huge expense as well.
