A driver's lost his Porsche, after a high speed police chase along a notorious highway south of Perth.

Officers say they were forced to pull the keys from the high powered car, as its driver tried to escape arrest.

The Porsche Boxter reached estimated speeds of 300 kilometres on hour.

The driver made it from Australind to Herron, a trip that usually takes 45 minutes.

The high speed joyride was eventually cut short.

When the driver realised he was being tailed by police, he slowed down to the speed limit, and was pulled over.

But as officers approached the driver's window, he allegedly attempted a u-turn to escape, spinning the silver sports car 360 degrees and stalling.

It was long enough for a quick-thinking officer to rip the keys from the ignition.

The 31 year old was arrested. He's been charged with assaulting police, aggravated wreckless driving and drink driving.

Silly bastard.

I think they're mistaken about a Boxter doing 300ks :blink:

The media are hopeless I swear.

the guy was not caught doing 300, and a 996 wont go that fast anyway.

the average speed for his trip between australind and herron was 120kph.

120 = 300 now?

sure the guy is a douche for drink driving and trying to doing a burnout infront of the cops, but that is media sensationalism at its worst!!
